I love Phil Jones in this documentary, he was such a champion of the sport of darts throughout the split and was a real ambassador for the professional game.

I think, if anything, this documentary reveals what kind of people Olly and Lorna really are, it's quite clear from the way people are speaking about then that their true characters have been revealed here.

the main reason why ITV ditched darts in 1988 that the then director of sport for the ITV network signed a £44m contract to televise live and exclusive league football (ITV had to pay £11m a season for four years) for that contract and another very expensive ITV sports contract at that time was with the then World Heavyweight Boxing champion Mike Tyson and they had exclusive contracts for domestic boxing with Frank Warren and a certain Barry Hearn (who also promoted ITV's snooker)

I think Mike Gregory went back to the bdo because he thought he could nick a world title. Tough shit.
  • Only was the founder of the bdo and brought darts to TV but I think he wouldn't move with the times and hated any ideas which would have improved darts the e d it left him a sad broken man ! Looking at the pdc now and darts in general those who broke away are hero's and deserve much credit for creating what darts has become today
  • @BrownyDeluxe
What the hell is the 'Horror murder mystery' music running in the background, its darts not a epic!

No worries, thanks for your blinkered views on the sport, although if the BDO had their way it wouldn't be considered a sport, it'd be a pub game.

What an absolute disgrace that " man " olly croft is. I put the word man like that because he acts so childish. It comes as no surprise the majority of players wanted to start what has become the pdc. It's their careers after all. I'm glad the pdc has gone onto become the #1 force in darts. If the players hadn't taken this brave step we would never of been treated to so many great matches, Events, 9 darters etc. Credit to everyone involved with the pdc for making darts what it is today, They have really done an amazing job. If you want to make a good business and succeed just take a look at the pdc. Selling out arenas worldwide it's great. I'd rather watch darts in the pub than go to the lakeside. Pdc #1
