NES Longplay [185] Dragon Warrior

I have to give props to the author for letting the full dragon warrior theme play out on the title screen.

Not only was this my introduction to JRPG & RPG In general, but this game holds a special place in my heart for another reason I'd like to mention here. My father and I didn't have the best relationship when I was growing up. He had his issues and we didn't have much in common, nor did we do much of anything together. One day he came down the basement where I was playing this very game to tell me to come upstairs for dinner. I happened to be fighting the green dragon to rescue the princess which caught his attention. I was 10. From that day, until he passed away when I was 25. We played tons of rpg together. It was the one thing we had

This game is the reason why I can read and understand old English very well. This game actually got me into reading as a child

I have such fond memories of playing this game back in the late '80s.  Sounds stupid now, but I was so proud of myself at age 11 or something to have beaten this game all by myself.  

This was my first RPG. Got it with my Nintendo power subscription for free😁

I got this game for my kids. In 1992 I broke my leg and was laid up for a long time and I played this game to the end. It got me thru. Thank you for playing the entire intro song.

This was the first RPG I ever played and I haven't looked back. RPGs will always be my favorite genre and its pretty awesome to see RPG elements in pretty much every video game genre now. The music is so awesome on the original NES. I guess we have to thank nintendo for the birth of electronic music lol

So many hours playing this, this was one of the hardest games to stop playing once you got started lol loved it

The grandpappy of the JRPG.

I don’t know why i suddenly thought about this game, but i searched it and landed here. The nostalgia is real. I am back to being 9 yrs old, playing this in the basement of my childhood home :) A simpler, better time.

man I remember playing this game when I was 7 years old and I did not know what the hell was going on. I never got anywhere but always tried to kill stuff. Thanks for the nostalgia.

ドラクエ１はやった事無いけどドラゴンクエストビルダーズでエンディングまでちゃんと再現出来てる！３０年経っても本当にドラクエはすごい。

So many memories of my dad finally beating this game after days of constant effort and taking his rage out on me with his fists when I was 5.
