Yes,I've got one of these too, great piece of kit, useful tip to get rid of an air bubble.is to place it on a window cill so it gets the warm direct sunlight,or placing it on a warm radiator can do the trick.

My years back brother was clearing out cupboards at a University in the UK in a Surveying department..... three of the earlier black painted model of these were set for the skip..... leather case and all..... the University cupboard was cleared in a good way..... .

Excellent. Just found one of these in the backseat of my Hilux. Cleaned out the shed of an old guy who was ex Army and Geologist last weekend. Must have fallen out of his old kit bags that were in the backseat. I better find a nice safe spot for it.

I have my grandfather’s WW1 version of this - the Mk VII, made in 1915 by Hicks of London. Essentially the same thing, only brass and no fluid and definitely no tritium!
-
thank you very much for sharing very useful cheers
-
Not steel construction as that would interfere with compass function. I think those are either brass or aluminum.
-
Are these still in use or do soldiers use cell phones instead? Or do they have both ?

Excellent presentation
