I like when zuko angrily says about the ember island players, “they butcher ‘Love Amongst The Dragons’ every year!” Which means he secretly cares about good theater.

Avatar is a show about progression, that's what makes this "looking back at their past" stuff works. The very first episode of the show Book 1 Ep 1 is called "The Boy in the Iceberg" and the finale is just called "Avatar Aang".

I love how the recap was in form of a propaganda play. Bc not only does it give the writers an in story excuse to make fun of the main cast. It also gives us a look at how the fire nation see’s the cast.

I loved how they did the theatrical effects of bending. In an animated show, actually making realistic compromises and tricks to simulate the bending. Awesome.

I also like how Soka sells the play to the others, saying: "It's the kind of wacky, time-wasting nonsense i've been missing lately", another self-referencial joke since that's what filler episodes usually are, making us think it's gonna be one
