It was hard for Waddell to give anyone else credit when his tongue was constantly in the arse of Taylor.

I was never a fan of Sid Waddell cos I got fed up of him comparing every other player to Taylor. Lloyd was a great player back in the day and he deserved a shit load more of respect than he was getting off Sid there. Personally I think Lloyd should have won more but every player has their day and he won two majors and was world number 1 so give the guy credit.

I would also be frustrated if I was being underestimated as a word no 1. Come on he was a great player at this point.

"I'm the world number 1" More because of the iffy ranking system the PDC used at that time than anything. Everyone knew Taylor was numero uno, winning most of the majors, but Lloyd used to accumulate ranking points in smaller events that Taylor would skip.

Sid was right, there'll never be another player like Taylor and Lloyd wasn't "Taylor-esque" even at the height of his game; but having said that Lloyd was 100% correct in his comments. If I was the world number 1, I'd certainly get annoyed at the constant raft of people knocking me and the amount of people wedged up Phil arse. Sid could have had a bit more class, even if his point was valid.

As a commentator he is allowed to commentate! He is also allowed to give his opinion before a match. Obviously, some players can't take a constructive piece of criticism. Some world number 1...

I hate the way Widdell and Harrington always seem to bum lick Taylor. I remember first noticing him going on about how great Taylor was after seeing him get a 137. Then in the next throw, Lloyd got a 140 and Waddel carried on going on about how great Taylor is. For christ sake, maybe they should get a room.
