Around 5 years after the DX7 world storm, Yamaha released the V50. This synth features the same 4-OP FM sound engine as Yamaha's DX11 and TX81Z but with 16 voice polyphony.
I personally think some old Yamaha FM synths are fetching stupidly high prices these days, but if you spot one of these for around 200 bills and you like this vibe, it’s hard to go wrong with this one.
A lot easier to edit than the DX7 too :)
It could use more algorithms but since you can layer sounds (and do splits) this kboard can be a really solid gun in the hands of a clever programmer.

I made this long ago, I don't have the V50 anymore I just couldn't progam it... it's the sound of a factory preset wich is something like an organ drenched in distortion reverb wich is a very cool effect this cool synth features.

i must say, i never liked the dx7 too much - we had one in our band during the 80s, but i also hated the difficulty in programming it plus most sounds were too cold for my taste - nowadays i have several plug-ins and they satisfy me a lot more - arturia has build very nice retro plug-ins - i bought me the ARP 2600 and it sounds very much like a real ARP and i checked some demos, the mellotron for instance is breathtaking!
