SCP-001 When Day Breaks Tale (Hour by Hour)

Published 2022-09-05
SCP 001 is an Apollyon Class anomaly also known as When Day Breaks.

SCP-001 is the designation given to the Sun, after an event occurred that resulted in roughly 6.8 billion casualties within the first twenty-four hours. Upon contact with visible light produced by SCP 001, living organisms liquefy at the point of contact, with the effect spreading until the entire organism is converted into a form resembling melted wax. Organisms exposed to SCP001 though, do not perish.

I say all you need to survive this is: 999, the never ending toilet paper, the SCP that duplicates anything placed inside, the coffee machine, and a peaceful pocket reality.

I find it funny how, the moment the Chaos Insurgency realized the world was ending, their first thought was: "This is the perfect moment to strike the Foundation!"
  • @ElisonTheDuck
"When day breaks" is so terrifying that not even SCP 999 is smiling
  • A nuclear winter would actually be a blessing in this situation because sunlight wouldn’t be able to reach the planet, as long as you can prepare for the radiation. After that all it would take is gasoline, flamethrowers, molotovs or anything that could spew fire to get rid of the monsters
  • SCP: 3008 would be the perfect place to hide. Infinite food and supplies, a very slim chance you find the exit, and the employees would be a walk in the park compared to the flesh monsters.
  • So basically to survive you need to become a gamer. Really think about it you have to stay in the dark, and avoid people who have been affected by the Sun.

suddenly the ikea isn't that bad of a place

I have been wondering- since "When Day Breaks" is caused by Sun's light, and light travels across the space, does that mean that eventually, all of space will be affected by SCP-001? Kind of scary, if you think about it
  • I feel like the moon not being safe either kinda breaks some of the previous When Day Breaks stories since a lot of the characters were traveling at night
  • I would love to see When Day Breaks adopted into a live action series/movie. This is giving me Walking Dead vibes
  • It's curious how in other cases of When Day Breaks, it's said that night is safe to walk around, but in this case it's pretty much the same as day so it explains when it's said that in the first (day/hour?) 6.8 Billion people are affected by it.

"Streamer tries to prove theory, what happens next is shocking"
  • If this SCP is one that targets exclusively biological matter, why doesnt anyone attempt to use the clockwork virus or some other SCP that turns people into non biological matter to beat When Day Breaks?
  • When day breaks is really the most terrifying fictional apocalypse scenario
  • @Xokoy
"Sir, the sun, which is a giant nuclear explosion containing 99.9% of all matter in the solar system has turned against us, what would you like us to do?" "Throw one of our own nukes at it!"
  • This video made me realize that there is a severe shortage of stories about those first chaotic hours of SCP-001.
  • They do realize that in half the daybreak stories moonlight is fine and other half it melts?

10:56 If a flesh monster started to sing "Just keep breathing and breathing and.." I'd lose my mind lol
