Philosophy: The Love of Wisdom | A Guide to Life

Philosophy is a mode of life, an act of living, and a way of being. Modern philosophy has forgotten this tradition, and philosophical discourse has all but overtaken philosophy as a way of life. Philosophy is not just an intellectual discipline, which can get abstract and divorced from the real world, but is most importantly a way of life that teaches us how to best live our lives.

Philosophy is a mode of existing in the world, which has to be practiced at each instant, and the goal of which is to transform the whole of the individual’s life. Real wisdom does not merely cause us to know: it makes us “be” in a different way.

Ancient philosophy proposed to mankind an art of living. By contrast modern philosophy appears above all as the construction of a technical jargon reserved for specialists.

“Do not seek for everything to happen as you wish it would, but rather wish that everything happens as it actually will—then your life will flow well.” — Epictetus :_eternalWisdom: Become a Patron (exclusive content): www.patreon.com/eternalised YouTube Member (exclusive content): youtube.com/channel/UCqos1tl0RntucGGtPXNxkkA/join Official Merch: eternalised.creator-spring.com/ Donate a Coffee: ko-fi.com/eternalised Transcript and artwork gallery: eternalisedofficial.com/2023/01/14/philosophy-a-gu… Special thanks to my Patrons Jay B, icarium75, Michael Huang, matevz drnovsek, Jessica Armstrong, Mr X, Joshua, Francesco Marchesoni, Spirit Gun, Ryon Brashear, Ramunas Cepaitis, Justin Raper, Camille Guigon, Kyle Schaffrick, Joanne Durkin, U Man, Frater Minister Ronald Darrel garr, Emmanuel Miller, OwainW, Terra Bell, ABM, Abdullah Erkam Ak, Dolly, SQRT42Pi, Danny Lloyd, Ross Benjamin, Andrew Kirkendall, Seinaru Senshii, Bita Habibi, Michael, Hörður Harðarson, Landry Lago, Matthew O'Hara, Joana Rodrigues, Ueui Samba

What an amazing channel. I’m 5 years in, with the self work, the shadow work, and building my life back up around philosophy. I’m 42 and finally feel free of judgement, free of stress and free of anxiety and fear of death and trying to control things. This channel has been a big part of my transition, and many others. Thankyou heaps xx also before you embark on this journey know you have to stop bullshitting yourself. Also, you will lose many people around you who are unable to grow. Good luck x

  • Haven't watched yet, but already know this is going to be great. Thank you!
  • @Cheximus
That first minute is me in a nutshell, and I imagine most others. Consume all the "right" content (philosophy, exercise, well-being, productivity etc) but live my life in not the most ideal way... It's very difficult to walk the walk!
  • How to embody philia Sophia? It is a state of being in which the logos and Eros can flow through us without being bound by the attachment and the illusion of sepperation. I am very grateful for what you do. Keep up the great work
  • just watched it but I have a feeling I’m gonna need a rewatch haha excellent video you’re doing us all a great service by sharing your knowledge

Dear Author, thank you so much for this amazing video. For the past few months, I was in search of something that would put my mind at ease. Nothing worked, music did not cover the topics that worried me, and communicating my thoughts only added discomfort and continued discomfort, listening to motivational or psychological videos did not give the needed intellectual and emotional response, but this video reminded me of the main principles and values that kept me content and thriving in the past and what I lost as stopped reminding myself of them. I like everything in this video. It is a huge educational and art work. Thank you!
  • @Avolver00
Long time lurker, but I just have say your work is phenonmenal. You've honestly been a gateway to Philsophy for me and I thank you for assisting in transforming my life in more ways than one.
  • Thank you brother your channel is expanding my mind and helping me with my anxiety unfortunately I live in poverty and when I look outside nobody understands but I do I learned so much and it triggered me to enroll in college at the age of 39 truth be told I have to stop and goggle some words thanks again
  • @gloomyremnants
Haile Selassie the final emperor of Ethiopia (1930-1974) of the Solomonic dynasty is a prime example of one who was able to balance Reason (man, principles) with Thumos (righteous courage, an army) to conquer the Appetite (monster, Romans) He was called the Lion of Judah and is depicted riding a white horse and slaying a dragon. Ancient philosophy is the Ethiopian Orthodox Church; modern philosophy is the Catholic Church. I would encourage anyone and everyone to read some of his quotes
  • @konnieb4608
