"Herman" is actually Peter Noone, now 74 years old and still going strong. He's regularly on a weekly show on Sirius XM playing the "golden oldies." And he and his wife married in 1968 and are still together. 😀:goodvibes:
  • "I'm Henry VIII I Am" was a song written over 100 years ago, but they did a classic pop version in 1965. "Mrs Brown You've Got a Very Lovely Daughter" is another iconic HH tune.

I had the privilege of seeing Peter Noone, the lead singer of Herman’s Hermits and won a backstage pass to meet him. He has a great sense of humor. When I asked him to sign my CD, he drew a mustache on his face and then signed! LOL.
  • @ajruther67
I've always loved Peter Noone's adorable smile. Gets me every time.
  • @centuryrox
There's something so appealing about the innocence of these 60s songs. Harkens back to a much simpler time where things weren't so complicated. Gives you such a good feeling.
  • @bigb6046
I like their song "There's A Kind of Hush" , later covered by The Carpenters.

Not only is Peter Noone ("Herman") still a DJ on Sirius radio's '60's station, but his daughter is also a Sirius DJ. Peter was 17 when this first hit of his came out in 1965. This song is played during a hysterical love scene montage in "Naked Gun" with Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley. (Yes, youngsters, she was married to Elvis.)

When I first heard this as a 12 year old in 1964 my world was filled with hope.

The band's hits included: "I'm into Something Good", "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat", "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter", "Silhouettes", "Wonderful World", "I'm Henry the Eighth, I Am" (in the U.S.), "There's a Kind of Hush", "Just a Little Bit Better", "A Must to Avoid", "Listen People", "The End of the World", "Dandy", and "No Milk Today". Herman’s Hermits sold more than 60 million records and had 14 gold singles and seven gold albums. The Hermits were twice named in the U.S. trade paper Cashbox as "Entertainer of the Year".

Herman's Hermits were one of the few British Invasion bands that sang with a British accent. You can really hear it in Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter. The Kinks did at times too, but other bands sounded American.
  • @kazshaw3945
Back then there was no auto tune or anything like that ,it was just the natural voice so if you didn't sound good you were out ! Talent was all you needed !
  • Loved their music, but one big obstacle for me in the 1960s was my father! He would not let us (even my Mother, his wife!) listen to HHs or any contemporary bands ( Beatles, Stones, Elvis Presley, even Tom Jones). Soo glad to have defied him ;-) and enjoyed all the 60s+ bands/singers-'Hey Hey, We're the Monkeys'. Now I'm a dedicated hard rock fan-- Sorry, Dad ;-) lol. Thanks, RSR for listening and reacting to these tunes!
  • So glad you finally reacted to Herman’s Hermits. Their music was fun. Now you have to listen to “Henry the 8th”, There’s a kind of Hush, and more. Peter Noone (Herman) still tours. I saw him a few years ago before Covid and his show was great. Very energetic.

J & A, their "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter", "There's a Kind of Hush" and "I'm Henry VIII, I Am" are next for you! edit- I have pictures of being at their concert as a child, but don't remember a thing! Lead singer is Peter Noone.
  • @WMalven
"Mrs Brown, Your;ve Got a lovely Daughter" and "There's a Kind of Hush." Y'all also need to check out another British Invasion band, Gerry and the Pacemakers and their songs, "Ferry 'Cross the Mersey," and "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying." Two of the most beautiful songs to come out of the 60s
  • @judibarton8807
Peter Noone, the lead singer, was only 15 years old when he became the frontman for Herman's Hermits.
  • @bengilbert7655
"There's a Kind of Hush All Over the World" is another great one. I really liked Henry VIII when I was 11.
  • Peter Noone, still performing today and sounds as good as he did in the 60's
  • @hungfao
These guys had quite a few catchy hits in the bubble gum genre. The music is simple and positive with a great hook. The bands still smiled when they performed. How could you not feel better after hearing it?
  • @graciesmom1477
Peter Noone (Herman) was about 16 years old when this song was released. He's 74 now and stilll performs, just as good as ever live.
