As a vegetable grower I totally agree a back up sprayer is a must I have one for herbicides and one for insecticides and fungicides so I am not always washing out the sprayer to go from pre emerge to post emerge spraying which happens often with vegetables and planting fresh crops every few days.

If you get iit down n out clean then wire wheel looks like a great job for some jb weld. Spred on thick and a small chunk of metal to cover the hole it should hold till the new pump is found and shiped. I know to keep the machine clean but a power washer will push moisture in to wire connections and boxes. I have had to fix things more when washed repeatedly. Its your piece of equipment so you do you. I would isolate the spill areas and keap that area clean vs cleaning the hole rig each day of use. Hopefully you can track down the electric issue on that sprayer.
