Anyone gonna talk about how ridiculously tight this group is?!? bruh Nate's drumming circles around the beat and they aren't missing a thing!!
  • @jaleelshaw
Had a great time recording this w/ Nate and it was great to be back to perform at my alma mater!

Everyone is here for the same reason. Nate's musicianship is absolutely unreal. There's chop worshippers out there. But, anyone that plays... understands the level of control, independence, discipline, and musical IQ (phrasing, dynamics AND feel) is masterclass across the board here. Pure class through and through.

That left foot hi hat control isn’t human, this guy is amazing 😳

Love the way Nate is pushing and pulling the time but, never loses the groove. 21st Century Tony Williams.

Nate's such a monster: an incredible combo of groove and control... I love that!

I'm so glad this has over a million views. Nate Smith deserves to be a jazz superstar. And all credit to his exceptional band too.

I've watched this multiple times and have been blown away each time I see it. However, this was the first time I realized that none of them are wearing in-ear monitors, Nate's timing is just that freaking good, no click, just years of work and great musicianship. I can't comprehend being that good at anything 🤯.

Dude, Mr. Smith’s independence right from the opening is incredible! The shaker, side snare, kick drum THEN THAT HEEL FOOT ON THE HAT? You may not be human sir. One of the best drummers I’ve seen in a long time and definitely one of the coolest, great band, music, musicianship, groove, all over my click bait lately

That timing... that's just behind, like an 1/8th of a beat behind, the main rhythm is simply amazing.
  • @RhysClarkeDrums
Nate's communication with the rest of the band is unreal. His drumming skills and the bands musicianship are out of this world. Would kill to be able to play like this.
  • Nate reminds me of Art Blakey as a band leader.Splendid leadership.

Too perfect to be human. So much feel and deep pocket to be a robot.......he's just out of ordinary. Amazing.

    I. Am. Speechless. I am still in a shock right now. The music sorta touched my soul in some way mannn WOW
  • @ocin311
As far as drummers are concerned, this is one of the greats. Used to admire drummers Art Blakey, Buddy Rich, and so on. All great before my time. Thanks Nate for always performing your best.

I saw them in concert for the very first time a few weeks ago at the Java Jazz Festival 2023 in Jakarta. He blew my mind. I became a fan. Here was a master musician showcasing his musical genius like no one else can. I've since watched countless YT videos and listen to him on Spotify. Thank you Nate for your incredible virtuosity.

Let's take a second to appreciate the fact that he is playing with formal shoes. That's insane.
