I always liked the scene where Dudley tells Harry he doesn’t think he’s a waste of space and they shake hands

I like how the extended cuts of the movies are always shown on tv, whether it was Freeform or SyFy

It was never explicitly stated, but has been confirmed by JKR: Neville was given his late father's wand by his grandmother which wasn't exactly matched to him. When he had to replace his wand after the events in the Ministry, his abilities markedly improved, and he became a leader among the students in Harry's place. Likewise, when Ron's wand, a hand-me-down from his brother, broke in Chamber of Secrets it had some humorous and necessary backfires, but when it had to be replaced, Ron became much more competent. "The wand chooses the wizard"

Imalda Staunton should have been nominated for an Oscar for her performance as Umbridge. Honestly don’t think anyone could have played that role better.

They shouldn’t have cut any scenes, but the best way to get around that is to read the books! The books are loaded with detail, a feast for the imagination. So many things that didn’t make it into the movies are in the books, waiting to be ‘discovered.’ The movies are good, passive fun, but the books tell a much better story. They’re a meal instead of a snack. I LOVE the books!!!!

I like the fact that Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawny) and Imelda Staunton Professor Umbridge) are good friends in real life. My theory is Emma told Imelda she would be good in the role. There's a good interview on the Graham Norton show with Staunton.

It would have been neat to see Harry and Dudley begin to Bury the hatchet, and actually start to get along, after everything they've been through.

Things that make me get choked up immediately: 1) Dudley and Harry's goodbye 2) John freaking Williams' music in the first two films
  • @knightwolf9863
Deleted? How about the part from Order of the Phoenix where Umbridge admitted SHE was the one who sent the Dementors to eliminate Harry before the start of his 5th Year? They cut the most crucial part of the book out of the film!!

I just listened to the entire Harry Potter series on Audible (for the sixth time)! I also read it to my two youngest children 11 years ago. And now my eldest daughter just read the series to her ten year old! (And as a bonus, they watched all of the movies after they finished reading the books!) I HIGHLY recommend the books to Harry Potter fans if all you've experienced are the movies! A 20 hour Audible book is whittled down to a two hour movie. SOOO many detail are lost. You'll love the books! ❤

I agree with you about Harry & Ginny's deleted scene, and also I read somewhere that Tom Felton forgot his line so he improvised the dialogue, "I didn't know you could read."
  • @DryBones271
The Bezoar in booking would later help save Ron's liv in book 6. SNAPE was the one who told him about it, it's amazing Harry didn't make the connection that the Prince would write that in the margin.
  • In a series where the main 9 students consist of 5 Gryffindors, 3 Slytherins, and 1 Ravenclaw, #7 would have been a big moment for members of the "most underappreciated and underutilized" house of Hogwarts in Hufflepuff, whose only times in the spotlight outside of that scene involved Cedric Diggory (including the "Potter Stinks" badges). I'd like to see that house get more screen time in the series reboot.
  • @sunnygirl523
still think snape calling lily a mudblood should have been in the movie
  • @LuvSlushie
100% agree with your 1# pick. Remus and Tonks forever! ❤️
  • @gofortharts
I think a special dvd release with all the deleted scenes replaced in the movie would be a special tribute.

I read the books before the movies came out, so my memory convolutes the two, not accurately remembering which was which. The movies told the same story in a different form, but left a lot out. Sometimes, it seemed like they were relying on fans of the books to fill in the gaps. The biggest gap I saw in the entire movie franchise was in The Prisoner of Azkaban when leaving out who the "Marauders" were: Padfoot, Tongs, Moony, and Wormtail. That was critical information in the books, and left out of the movies.
