I live in North East Wyoming if it blows up tomorrow I don't have to go to work Monday.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

I've always had an irrational fear of Yellowstone ever since I learned about it as a kid
-
First time I saw Yellowstone was in 2013. I visited again last year and absolutely could notice way more steam vents and dead patches of trees surrounding them than I did ten years prior.

I live in Post Falls, Idaho, over a far flung part of the Yellowstone magma chamber far below. Most folks don't realize how very, very large this magma chamber is. And yeah, most of it is very deep down and, for the most part, stable (for now, anyway). And I don't really worry about Yellowstone blowing up anytime soon, or at least in my lifetime, because this is a live volcano that "breathes", in that it is regularly releasing steam/super heated water from it's magma chamber. The surface of the current caldera, which surrounds Yellowstone Lake, rises and falls on a pretty regular basis. Pressure builds and the land of the caldera basin rises, then pressure is released, and the land subsides again. It's been doing this for hundreds of thousands of years and no significant changes have been found since it's been monitored on an hourly basis.

Always a good day when a Koranos Video Drops!

Nice informative video. Thank you
-
Your channel is excellent

Two problems: 1, there is a string of supervolcanic explosions following what's now the Yellowstone hotspot going back 17 million years, not mentioned in the video. 2, the Yellowstone caldera system is a whole lot larger than the comparably tiny Prismatic Spring shown in the video, which I might describe as deceptive imagery.

I can remember when Mt. St. Helen erupted. I don't remember exactly what year but do remember that.

Given the precariousness of Yellowstone, is the magma close enough to the ground that a nuclear attack could theoretically trigger an eruption?
