Ireland’s anti-immigration backlash has spiralled into country-wide unrest in recent months after a sharp rise in the number of foreigners arriving onto its shores. Protests, arson attacks and hardening anti-immigration views have transfused Irish politics with a fervour not seen since the Troubles.

Freelance journalist Michael Murphy went to Ireland for the Telegraph to find out what Irish people make of the growing strife.

  • At least the Irish are fighting back rather than just whinging about it.
  • @adipoem
It's become clear to me that governments do not act in the interest of their people.
  • @mischa1880
It's time to STOP calling these people "far right". They are indigenous Irish people. Ireland is their home.
  • @rooftile883
No shame to be anti immigration - it's YOUR country, culture, heritage.
  • @grossguy9570
It's not anti-immigration. It's, pro-let's take care of our own poor, our own homeless and our own problems, before we start helping others.
  • @mgqfashion
Get rid of the clowns governing your country. What a shame!
  • @NRGhealer
It's no accident that this is happening all over the western world.
  • @steveharvey2203
STOP CALLING THEM ASYLUM SEEKERS, THEY ARE ECONOMIC MIGRANTS!!!
  • @shemmakanga8390
The main concerns are drugs, housing/homelessness, rape, pickpocketing, stabbings, welfare & healthcare impacted, school space, compromised and so on and so forth. The gov't has to change the immigration policy, taking care of its citizens more.

Allegedly stabbed by an Algerian? He was foreign born, came into the country illegally years ago, was eventually rewarded for his illegal actions and allowed to stay years later. He should have been deported years ago and the stabbing would have never have never happened.
  • @Wench1888
Deport not support. Well done Ireland 🇮🇪 for speaking out.
  • @user-ie7hm7cw3b
Protect your country Ireland. Don’t let it become a migrant camp, like we have in England.

I remember when I went to Dublin, we were shown a street full of foreign stores and salls. Our guide told us that this is what he wants all of Ireland to look like. I was wondering why, after fighting centuries against foreign oppression, would willingly sacrifice their nation to import foreigners.

The Irish people here are absolutely 100% accurate. Total truth spoken here.

We come to Ireland to experience the Irish culture. We come to England to experience the English culture. We come to France to experience French culture. We go to Egypt to experience the Egyptian culture. I’m all for legal immigration and for those people to INTEGRATE themselves into the language and culture of the country that they immigrated to, but this insane push to erase all western culture is wrong. All our countries need to push back on this bull💩 and not allow the erasure of our countries and our culture.
  • As an Irish citizen, I simply say enough is enough!!! Ireland cannot sustain this flow of migrants... I hope people come out and vote this next June and let their voice be heard!
