Celine Dion at Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony in Paris (Reaction)

Published 2024-07-27
Celine Dion took to the rafters of the Eiffel Tower in Paris for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games. Battling a debilitating condition called Stiff Person Syndrome, she out her heart into every syllable of Edith Piaf’s classic torch song Hymne a l’Anour raining the evening to exceptional heights of emotion.

This Canadian guy is just so happy to see Celine back on the world stage. Very moving performance that likely brought tears to everyone watching (just like me).

My favourite part of her performance is when she paused to take it all in... you could see see was completely taken aback... love her so much x
  • Iconic. Rainy night in Paris, atop the Eiffel Tower, dripping in diamonds, Hymn to love. Wow.

For so many different reasons this was possibly the crowning performance of her life. Battling a serious illness. A massive occasion with an audience of millions. On the Eiffel Tower at night in the rain. An iconic song made famous by a French legend. A song about losing a loved one to death having lost her own husband. Singing in her own language (and she is always better in French). And finally a sublime performance in every way leaving us in tears. Bravo, Céline.

Celine's performance at the opening ceremony was nothing short of extraordinary. Her strength and resilience in the face of a challenging neurological disease are profoundly inspiring. Despite her personal battles, she delivered a breathtaking performance that touched the hearts of everyone present. Celine, you have shown us the true meaning of courage and dedication. Your talent and spirit continue to shine brightly, reminding us all of the power of perseverance and the triumph of the human spirit. Thank you for your incredible contribution and for being a beacon of hope and inspiration to us all.

We feel the impact of her illness on her vocal cords... But as incredible as it may seem, the timbre of her voice becomes more fragile and therefore even more beautiful and moving, fitting perfectly with Edith's spirit Piaf and his song. I don't think I would have felt the same emotion if it had been sung by the Céline of 20 years ago with the perfect vocals. Truly what a queen and inspiration.
  • Seeing this, after the interview, she gave a few weeks back... "Will you ever sing again?" "Ohhh I WILL sing again!"
  • @AirShark95
This was Celine's way of telling the world "I am still here, and I am not going anywhere!" in the most beautiful and moving way possible.

I may not be objective ,Piaf was a great singer and no one could sing her songs as well as she did but yesterday Céline has surpassed her 😘
