There was a time when computer effects were mainly used for spectacle -- like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park or huge explosions in action films -- but they have evolved to the point where they can even realistically alter an actor’s appearance.

If an actor doesn’t want to do a nude scene, it’s no problem at all, as computers can do all the work for them, and if a role requires an actor to look younger than they actually are, that can be taken care of digitally. Let’s take a look a look at some actors who had to be digitally enhanced for their roles.

  • @Looper
What other digitally enhanced roles should've made this list?

4:40 "because if there's anything that's going to make a show relatable to young people, it's flawless looking actors with perfect skin complaining about being unattractive" Respect Looper, respect. 4:28 "this didn't "zit" well with the producers" OUT.

Marvel is nailing it with the de-aging. It didn't even look off to me in Antman & the Wasp
  • Since the 80s Hollywood has made Tom Cruise appear as tall as his co-stars... Now THATS hollywood magic!
  • @Malachi57
They did a great job with Michael Douglas in Ant-Man too.
  • @nathandrake7559
Wow marvel can make their actors young but DC can't remove a moustache
  • @The_Nightsong
The last comment from Robert Downey Jr was hilarious: "omg, he was so beautiful! What happened?" :P
  • @2degucitas
I love Robert Downey Jr. So happy he finally got sober and reclaimed his life. He's an example of never giving up.
  • @momster64
I gotta think it would be easier and cheaper to cover tattoos with makeup rather than CGI.
  • I loved Robert's comment, "My god he was so beautiful, what happened" Bwahaha

the glee pimple thing also makes sense from a continuity perspective. Episodes usually take 7-8 days and not usually filmed in order, zits could change from scene to scene so I can understand that.
  • I love the de-ageing effect in the MCU. All the 4-5 actors they did it to looked perfect
  • @SocialSpit
WOW, got to admit, this is one of the best Looper vids I've ever seen. I knew all about that Cap America stuff, but I didn't realise that this had been done to the extent shown here.
  • @irina1296
Interesting video guys. Thanks for it
  • @noahbowie5985
You should've had Henry Cavill on the list for no moustache in Justice League Also "this didn't ZIT well" was hilarious
  • no mention of the horrendous job done with Henry Cavill's stache in JL ???? Shame on you Looper
  • Great job on this digital enhancement techniques episode of Looper. BTW, I like that Looper loop music theme you use. The Carrie Fisher digital face matting work is excellent if eery considering they will do more of this in future Star Wars films since she passed away. As you know it was recently announced the film producers will use earlier shot live footage mixed with CGI for princess Leah.

IMO, the team at Lola for Captain America was absolutely snubbed for an Oscar that year. Their work was astonishingly good. They've been doing consistently great since, and still no Oscar.
