Stellantis chief designer Ralph Gilles is best known for icons like the Chrysler 300 and the fifth-gen SRT Viper. But a 1,000-horsepower, carbon-fiber-body Hellucination 1968 Dodge Charger built by SpeedKore is his pride and joy. What started life as a rusty barn find is now a completely custom restomod powered by a 7-litre ‘Hellephant’ V8 pumping out that headline horsepower figure and a staggering 950lb ft of torque. Yeesh...

Join Top Gear's tuning correspondent Rob Dahm for a tour around Ralph's car collection and a fist hand experience with the Hellucination

American Tuned has been nominated for a Webby Award. TG are proud of Rob and the team at Tangent Vector – and you can vote for your favourite in the Best Content Series category here -> bit.ly/43KALHh Voting closes April 20th.
  • One of the coolest restomods ever...if you can even call it a restomod. It's basically an entirely new car. This is what a lot of us would do with infinite money...take our favorite car, replace anything metal with carbon fiber, use the best suspension available, and massive power. Epic.
  • Ralph Gilles is the designer that I've always admired. From his humble background, Haitian roots, the fact that as a kid he drew sketches of cars and sended it to Chrysler Motor company and end up becoming a designer at the same company. He designed imho the finest of finest Viper. They should create a Netflix documentary of this man. Thank you Ralph! 🙌🏾

Love the fact this fella has access to such amazing cars and has a 1.9 205gti in his collection. You know he understands cars more than big power and big displacement. Great to see 👍👍

Peugeot 205 GTi in the garage, this man knows his cars. It's one of the best handling cars ever. Like Robs presenting, genuine, no bullshit or drama, and knows what goes into these builds.
  • Not only is it an amazing build, but Ralph seems like one hell of a nice guy! And him raining down on the throttle at the end just made me smile.

Ralph you are a legend! Very nice piece of art you made there! My hats are off well done my friend!
  • If Dahm is a permanent fixture of TG now I'm going to have to start watching again. The two episodes I've watched on YT have been great.

I personally think this is gonna be the new trend in cars over the next 10 years. Classics built with modern tech.
  • @OrpheussZ06
This car and the Gen 4 & 5 Vipers are the only dodge products I’d ever buy/own. What a beautiful machine. This is coming from a Z06 owner. Well done.
  • Literally, and I MEAN LITERALLY, this is my dream auto. Take both kidneys, my house, my wife and the kids... This '68 is charger is the Greatest Automobile Ever Made. Sweet baby jesvs!
  • @quigonjay9
Being a UK car guy, I usually skip a lot of these "American tuned" videos but this machine is just WOW
  • @architectjeff
Ralph’s vision is always a sight to behold. So much detail.
  • @iForix
Hellephant reminds me of Hoonicorn. Good times watching that car being built. This is like its younger cousin
  • @GLHS592
I saw this car during the Power Tour and it is simply spectacular. Seeing it close up just blows you away. Also, calling Ralph a nice guy is a vast understatement. I really enjoyed meeting him outside the hotel . He answered all my questions about the car and even asked me about mine.
  • @MTheroy
This guy is living what I grew up dreaming to live, has motivated me to get back on this path to make it my reality. Thank you! Beautiful cars!
  • @JTeam45
Absolutely beautiful, what a piece of moving art! Props to Ralph and SpeedKore!
  • @SuperTrb0
That is a beautiful rolling piece of art. You can see his passion for design throughout this build. Simply amazing.
