I kinda relate to Pentious in a way. He's a failure. He kept trying to defeat Alastor and impress the Vs but failed so miserably that Alastor doesn't even remember his existence. He has nothing left. He's desperate when the Vs actually contact him, but he failed that too and now he REALLY has nothing left. But even when he's at rock bottom, Charlie lends him a hand, figuratively and literally, and to see that someone really believes in a failure like him, it gives him hope. So he decides to try and get redemption, for the one person who chose to truly believe in him. And even before that, I feel like Pentious is way too invested in the activities for it to be JUST an act. Maybe that, without realizing it, he really tries to fit in and find his place in the hotel since he never fit in anywhere before but wants to. And as a fellow failure, I can relate.

I already liked him fine in the pilot, but now that the show is out he’s becoming one of my favorites. He’s one of those characters that tries to be scary and evil when in reality he’s a funny goofball kinda like Papyrus from Undertale. Rock on Mr Pentious! 💛🖤 Edit: we will never forget the brave hero who helped save the Hotel and kissed his crush rest in peace you glorious snake man.
