Part 2 of Frank being interviewed by comedian David Brenner on his short lived talk show, "Nite Life", in the mid 1980's. Check out Uber-cool band leader, Billy Preston, of "Nothing From Nothing" and the Beatles' "Get Back" fame.

In this segment, Frank introduces his 2 oldest Moon Unit and Dweezil (18 and 16) who seem to be some of the most well adjusted children in show business, especially for the offspring of one of the most iconoclastic musical icons of the time. Notice how ariculate they are and their lively sense of humor. Frank was nothing if not a good, attentive, present parent.
man, look at the noses on these 2 Gentlemen; nearly identical. The Jew and the Italian are pretty close in size in the proboscus department.

Dweezil is an excellent Guitarist in his own right, and Moon is an outspoken political activist and comedian herself, and both are busy raising families of their own.

We miss Zappa, and while his kids haven't nessisarily risen to his lofty heights of avant garde musical expression, they all seem to be living very happy lives.
This interview is a tribute to his cleverness and grace.

Such a cool family chemistry. You can be sure they had a lot of hilarious times, and plenty of witty intelligent banter in the house those days.

R.I.P. Billy and Frank. Frank Zappa died 27 years ago today… I still miss him

You gotta love Frank and such sweet children. I think he was a great father. He was always anti drugs and never part of the "establishment". God rest his soul.
  • Love the Zappa family back then. Very bright children! Frank was the greatest, one of my main musical influences, and David Brenner was one of my favorites!

Gosh, an interviewer that Frank seemed to like and Moon delighted on. I don't know who he is - I'm English, but cudos to him for succeeding where so many failed.

Imagine The Zappa’s as a reality show. Seems TV execs we’re on the cusp of this concept as they realized audiences enjoyed seeing Frank and his kids together

Dweezil: "We make butter." Frank: "We have a cottage industry." Genius.
  • How cool must it have been to have Frank Zappa as your father?! No time wasted going to church . . . a home life filled with magnificent music and cynicism regarding politics . . . man, what I would've given for that kind of upbringing!
  • As a Veteran who swore an Oath to protect & defend the Constitution, I deeply appreciate Frank saying that it needs to be valued & protected. 🙏👊🇺🇸 Also, Frank wasn't a drug user, but 200 Motels is fascinating to watch under the influence of psilocybin. 🍄🚀🌌

listen to Zappa plays Zappa...(I think he has a few vids out, this one was with former 'Mothers' guitarist Steve Vai and Terry Bozzio (former 'Mothers' Drummer and percussionist) Dweezil is a brilliant guitarist and musician... I have been a Zappa fan for decades and now have just discovered Dweezil has taken his fathers music to another level... he (Dweezil) would make his father proud! Thank you Dweezil, for keeping your fathers music alive.

Frank Zappa's children are soO beautiful... specially Moon unit she is like a light house"
  • Back in the bronze age I actually got my dad to sit n listen to Zappa and the Mothers. He said, " I'm not sure about the music but he sure has an interesting mind." I was around 16 then n glad dad wasn't a total jerk. Actually he would listen to a fair amount of my music unlike his wife.
