We're three years in and have many more years to go...

In this video we'll show you everything we've done to renovate this abandoned stone farm house in central Portugal – so far!

This project has definitely been full of surprises and work that we didn't ever imagine doing or taking on ourselves but it's been an exciting journey so far.

We've done lots of demolition and rip out – from bathrooms to rotten wood to old damaged plaster. We've done a bit of rebuilding, using traditional and natural materials where possible. So far we've tried our hand at constructing stud walls, laying sub floors, doing lots of digging, off grid solar electrics, some plumbing, tiling and lots of lime plastering (with hemp added to the mix). Check out what we've been up to and stick around for future episodes as we've got a lot more to show you!

Looking back, wasn't €70,000 too much for this property? What is your opinion? On the first floor almost only the outer walls remained standing. You really started with so much enthusiasm. This work would cost an enormous amount of money if it were done by a construction company. The result would certainly not be as satisfactory for you. You have done this with dedication until now. I'm very excited to see the video of you moving in. You have to hurry because I'm 75 years old and I look forward to seeing you every week.

I take my hat off to you, Kylie and Guy. The work and care that you have put into this place is incredible. It's going to be a gorgeous, warm, and comfortable home.
  • Things are never what they seem …… I don’t think either of you were able to see what lay ahead given the first impression of the house …. However that aside you both just “took the bull by the horns” and got stuck in …. What a mammoth achievement…. It has been a total rebuild within the walls of the house. I am just so impressed with your work ethic … always working according to a plan, always cleaning up as you worked and on top of that you were filming and editing … just absolutely blown away by your project thus far …. Huge respect !!!! Durban SA🇿🇦
  • I have just watched 1hour and 14mins of two of the hardest workers I have ever seen, the amount you have achieved in 3years is staggering. I cannot wait to see the next instalments. Congratulations and I hope everything goes well with the rest of the project.

Ok a comment for fellow viewers, allow commercials to roll. They provide metrics ($) to this hardworking pair! My god they deserve recognition! Secondly I am encouraged by their efforts over the last 3 years to imagine a drastic change is always possible in anyone's life. Take step 1. Go on. 😊

I have to smile when at the viewing you say ‘this isn’t so bad’ or words to that effect guy. And Kylie’s ‘we’ll be living in the tent for 6mths’ That said you’ve achieved so much and it is starting to look like a home. x
  • I’ve been watching you from the beginning—-when you were searching for a property. A happy trip down Memory Lane 🤗🎶❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦

I'm embarrassed to say I've been a viewer that's been chomping at the bit saying "get to the reno, get to the reno"! However after seeing the last 3 yrs of reno work. I'm glad you have gardening, cooking and preserving, traveling your area and site seeing, eating out, crocheting, visiting with family and putting them to work and wine tasting as well as film making in your life! This is more then just a project you share! To keep up the work one needs diversions otherwise we lose motivation. Thank you for sharing your life it's much appreciated!
