Jupiter, you can take the HDD into data recover specialists to get the data back, it costs a lot though. As long as the disk is intact, your data is recoverable. Anywho, I've had a mouse begin to burn up on me. :P - A cheapo eMachines one. It was very... awkward, my mouse started getting very hot. xP
-
IBM/Hitachi drives are notorious for that, this one looks like a maxtor
-
evil eye and evil laugh.."it's burning.. burning" LMAO xD
-
Had that once with a Maxtor 6Y120LO. I didn't do anything wrong but it began to smoke. I had to buy another drive to switch the mainboards to make it operate again.
-
I've had three 200GB Maxtor drives die in a row, one WD Raptor 146GB. The Seagate Barracuda drives are OK, I've got a bunch 120GB drives in my Torrent box (ancient Dell Precision 410) and that's been on for years, more or less, continuously reading and writing.

Lol, that meant that the motor's speed controller was under a load (hence the burning) and it couldnt get the disk spinning. the motor probably went.
-
Hahahaha, that "Stiiinky" killed me.
-
Maxtor and death motor chip!
-
Also, it may be worth noting that this magic smoke has a distinctive blue colour usually, so you'll know when it's the magic smoke getting out rather than juts regular smoke. xD
-
actually the hard drive data is fine. thats a tvs chip there that prevents the hard drive from data damge if there is a spike in the voltage
-
Well that sucks, an expensive heater if you ask me...
-
the same happend to my Brushless Speedcontroller...
-
its giving you the evil eye ^^
-
Looks like a laser is being used.
-
this is cool!
-
= = "maxtor, made to be fried..."
-
I think it is correctly formatted now :)
-
Nope no laser. I wish that I had a laser that could burn things! That would be so cool
-
you could make your dinner on that XD
-
normally i like to blast mine with a 12ga when they go bad, maybe even get out the 91/30 lol. this looks fun though. still like my guns.
