As far as we have put together (or at least it's headcanon to us) the EggDog SMG3 keeps by his side consistently since the death of Terrence (RIP little bud) is the same one that he conjured during school as shown during the YouTube Arc. This makes it fundamentally different from other memes, seemingly, in the fact that it doesn't seem to be a naturally-occuring meme that can be used for energy but it can also be revived at will if injured or killed (which explains why it's been able to be fried in a burning building, crushed by Mario falling at high speed, cracked on accident when confused with normal eggs, etc. and still be a regular character in the series: it's a summon, not a normal EggDog meme, so if they get killed, SMG3 can reconjure it with some effort.) This Eggdog, if it is the same one, was a point of contention back then, if anyone remembers. 3 felt inferior to 4 because 4 exceled to the point 3 was invisible, and this Eggdog summon was considered good until 4 made a bigger Eggdog summon, to which the award 3 was given was taken back and given to 4, literally defining his Eggdog as "inferior" despite it being passable. And it also kinda makes sense that after all of the crap in Genesis/Revelations, as well as losing Terrence, that he would go back to this Eggdog in particular, since out of all memes to have particular responsibility over, his summon would probably be the closest thing to Terrence that he knows of that has been neglected, since he hadn't brought the poor thing back since school and as a summon, it's probably meant solely to function as a companion. So the insult of "so much more inferior" is probably more of a throwback to school, where Eggdog was dropped to 2nd place for 4's creation, as a "who's inferior now?!"-type comment. Which is definitely 3's style.
