The technical term for this bug is a "Prompt Swap." They exist in several games, most notably Dark Souls Remastered, and they require frame perfect inputs, which is why slowing down your fps and connection helps you pull it off.

This better be on the historical tab in the spreadsheet

While testing this I found another cool thing regarding this bug: when you transfer a perk from one weapon type to a different weapon type, the end result will be a perk that inherits properties of the former weapon type. For example: if you transfer Enhanced Kinetic Tremors from a sniper rilfe to the auto rifle, Kinetic Tremors will still proc in just 2 shots, like it would on a sniper rifle. And this applies to absolutely all perks that have different functionalities depending on a weapon type, like subsistence ammo regen or Demo/Pugilist ability regeneration values (they give 20% on special weapon/10% on primaries.)

I hope Bungie take some inspiration from this. Allowing people to possibly experiment with frames and giving weapons bigger perk pools to choose from.

Was so happy that bungie decided to let us have fun! Was disappointed that I wasn’t able to make as many combos as some other people though, due to not having a lot of patterns done, and not being on pc

yall are aware, that bungie s gonna delete all them fishy weapons once they fix it right?

some tips/fun facts: when on 30fps trying to get difficult to reach tabs, you can actually input a couple directions FIRST before clicking the first weapon to help reach the second gun faster and simpler ie, when going to put shotgun frame on mg, I do d > s > click > s > click instead of needing to click shotgun then inputting all 3 directions rapidly despite you moving tabs, it will still register the first thing you have highlighted secondly, not only can you steal another gun's column 3/4, you can also steal barrel/mag perks, like putting assault mag on non shotguns

For next gen console users, try connecting to a hotspot with your console and computer and load a bunch of twitch streams or something while attempting the glitch.

Yours was the best video about trying to make this crafting glitch happen; I wanted to add some things in case people have issues like I did. Like you, I thought "reshape" versus "shape" was much easier since you get to control where the target and destination weapons appear. Also, have each weapon on your character--BUT NOT EQUIPPED--and make sure they are not "locked". Also, in Video Settings, besides setting "Framerate Cap" to 30, I also found thatyy I got this to work most easily by cranking my "Resolution Density" all the way up to 200 from the default of 100. This made this work the most easily for me.

When bungie goes in to fix, folks entire character will be blacked out lol
