I've Become Obsessed With XBOX Series X (as a PC Gamer)

Published 2024-08-05
I'm back to playing on console and this time I'm doing it on the XBOX for the first time. Sure, I've owned an Original XBOX for a while, but I completely missed out on it during the 6th generation so I'm not inclined to count it. But with STALKER 2 on the horizon, I figured that it'd be good to try out this console before I recommend anyone buy it in order to play the game.

Fortunately, as a PC Gamer there's a lot I can appreciate about what the XBOX Series X does and frankly, I've become obsessed with playing my games on this console.

It's really nice to enjoy the comfort and playing on the couch, but there's also many pros and cons that I'll get into, but for that you'll have to watch!

Loved this video. Lately, I've been thinking about picking up a Series X again simply due to how comfortable the experience was. I've been a PC Gamer for a few years, and I only take a liking to small form factors to mimic that look of a console. The Series X nailed that look ( a strip of RGB lighting would've been perfect), and I've also been missing physical copies lately. As mentioned within the video, xbox comes closest to PC and offers better backward compatibility as opposed to the PS5. I was a playstation gamer for the longest, but the PS5 never had my interest. I have a high-end PC at the moment, but the ease of use with the series x is unmatched.

Game Pass was the reason I bought an Xbox Series X (I have all the PlayStations except for the PS5). and 1.5 years in I have completed games worth $4000, and I bought 3 years of GamePass for $100, it's been an great investment!

The Xbox always Online DRM is a monstrosity, I agree with everything you said about Xbox. I prefer it over the PlayStation but games skipping the console is very disheartening.

I was primarily a PC gamer up until a year ago, all because I started working at home, meaning I would spend 8–10 hours a day in front of my PC. This pretty much made PC intolerable for me, as it would constantly remind me about it being a working station first and foremost. But then I decided to buy a console, of course due to a huge popularity of PS5 that's the console I sent my mind to buy, but then after digging a bit more and finding good and bads of each console I came to a conclusion that excluding the exclusive games (no pun intended), PS5 is objectively inferior to XBOX offering. Quick resume is a blast, backwards compatibility is absolutely insanely good, and of course game pass... I mean, I like Game Pass, don't get me wrong, but that wasn't the reason why I bought the console. I was in the market for a console, sure, but nevertheless it's the actually backwards compatibility in combination with quick resume that made a sale, because besides that these consoles are identical. Now, I got to admit that I'd rather take 30 fps over 60 fps, if it meant no more fiddling with settings for each game I own. It's an easy and seamless experience, and if playing games is your main concern, investing into a console is a good solution.

man i also went through a short nostalgic trip of collecting old xbox games from marketplace - if BC becomes larger itd be great for me to pick up a series x
  • Unfortunately, Xbox discontinued adding more older games to the Xbox One/Series S/Series X backwards compatibility due to companies not willing to put the effort to add their games. This was announced last year.
  • I can relate to you my friend. lol I see myself jumping in between Nintendo, Xbox and PlayStation consoles and find myself on PC sometimes. To be honest, I wanna try all of them. I don't wanna restrict myself to one platform. The only thing really that annoys me are the game exclusives. Oh, well. When, I was a kid I game a lot on Nintendo systems. As I got older, I went from that to PC gaming. I guess it's an acquired taste that has to do with time and maturing interests. I'm still a Nintendo kid at heart but I wanna game on other platforms and discover new things because of my curiosity.

Smart move most people are too biased to come see what the ecosystem is all about but once they do they never leave because Xbox is the best ecosystem and they have no competition😂😂 they have 500 monthly active users Playstation only has 120..once you play with quick resume you can't live without it😂 everything they bring is amazing backwards compatibility ,FPS boost, Auto HDR ,Microsoft Reward Points, Game Pass ultimate, smart delivery, all the amazing deals . Game Pass ultimate all the free stuff you get DLC, cosmetics and in-game content you get!... the other day I got the Persona 3 $45 DLC for free and the Zombie Army 4 season 1 year 1 pass with 30 free add-ons save me $50 bucks and $45 bucks for the Persona expansion... then you get crazy deals in the store I bought Dead Space remake one month after launch for $8 bucks...we buy more ,we play more, we save more!!..most hardcore Gamers over here cuz we don't enjoy PC.. I mean if you do that's part of Xbox as well ,,but any more PC is troubleshooting terrible running games and cheaters cheaters and more cheaters!! so many people are waking up realizing that Xbox is just unbeatable if you're an actual hardcore passionate gamer!! it's like gamer heaven... everything the platform offers plus Microsoft reward points pick up free $50 cards and Xbox buys you games LOL or you could use it for subscriptions or store gift cards whatever you want it's free money Plus they have the best first party developers in studios in the world now on all the great Studios and they have the most investment in Partnerships with the best studios around the industry so you'll always have something to play every month they are giving you great game!! and all your games play and look and run better!! It's unbeatable and amazing they are taking over!!

I have the series s and a steam deck, the things i buy works and syncs the progress with play anywhere games. And with the steam I can play a big catalog of pc games and use it like a pc with windows I think is the best combo you can have for 600€ the series s it's so cheap and the steam deck you can find it for 300€ in second hand market. And more easy to move with it than a PC or a +900€ decent enormous gaming "laptop" (that you need everytime the charger for everything) Xbox doesn't have a big roster of exclusives to make you buy the console only for that, but i don't care having a enormous catalog of various gens and having emulators with the dev mode (working better than ps5) idk exclusives aren't that important for me and some exclusives being on pc and more will arrive soon that i can play on the steam deck
  • The only plus side of Game pass is if you had a membership and canceled it, they throw $1 months at you constantly so you will hopefully resub and forget to cancel. I always cancel. Do not buy a single damn microtransaction if you don't actually own a copy of the game, you are giving them extra money for stuff you can't play once you stop paying. I have a top of the line last gen pc set up, but i recently picked up an xbox series s so i could play CFB25, my first console since my launch model xbox 360. I thought i would only play CFB25, but when i noticed all the extra games i could play with game pass ultimate that i can't play on PC. If its a shooter game or if i want insane frames and quality i play on PC, if its just for fun or to kill a little time the xbox boots up. So i can play in my office or play it in the living room or bedroom, without having to move an entire gaming setup. I was able to grab this Series S for only $100 from a lady at work selling her sons xbox since he failed a class lol. I would 1000% buy a Series X over the S but i had no extremely cheap option for that, as the digital only platform is complete crap that can just be turned off when microsoft feels like.

I used to be a heavy pc gamer as well until I got a Series X 😂
  • Xbox should first and foremost prioritize the console. Maybe make the new exclusives console only for like 6 months to a year. It ain’t nice but it might work
  • Don't know if I agree with he whole "not worth buying gaming PC". I could make PC with Ryzen 5 5600 32GB RAM and 7800XT for around 1000€.

I bought a series x. I feel like I've made the right choice. If I had bought a gaming P.C i would have still miss out on gta 6. I feel like the loading speed and graphics are so good I feel like I have a P.C. I honestly dont even really feel like upgrading when next gen comes out. Comes cross gen games will basicly look the same. Don't see the need to have another box in my living room until this one dies.
