  • My Pakistani friends consider about three dates a sufficient dessert. Your stuffed dates take it to another level and I will be trying them. So much fun to watch your episodes!

I felt like I was watching birdman with how the background music just NEVER stopped
  • @LilianLe1
i love the show, but would it be possible to make the music quieter? the music is very loud when Sohla is taste testing
  • As a historian with an interest in the ancient Mediterranean this video was fascinating. However I'd like to address a couple of comments I read. First how do we know what people were eating 2000 years ago. In Egypt it is fairly straightforward, there was food left in tombs for the deceased journey through the underworld, there are frescos and wall paintings depicting foods. Not to mention there are some written records. As to someone's comment about the remains of Cleopatra being in London. That is doubtful, because as far as I'm aware the tomb and body of Queen Cleopatra VII has yet to be discovered. I'm signed up to enough history periodicals that if a find of that magnitude had happened the world would know about it. Thankyou Sohla for another wonderful and informative episode. ❤

I just checked out your video on Pemmican, and I think there are so many untapped recipes in native indigenous cultures. I’m a tour guide in Yosemite, and acorn bread was a staple of Ahwahneechee culture, along with many other clans across California, and the continent. Here, it was either eaten plain, or mixed with crushed berries (manzanita berries, thimble berries, white stem raspberries, etc.). The processing of the acorn was a precise process that, if done incorrectly, could make the bread very bitter. Totally think it’s something you should try out!
  • Wow, after growing up loving History channel and then bouncing from it years ago due to its misinformation and sensationalism, this was truly a joy to watch! Its taking all my willpower not to binge because I feel like I could easily become addicted to learning about ancient recipes. Thank you for this interesting episode! And now I really wanna cook some dates :)
  • @jackdorsey4850
Dear Chef, Can you include a "full recipe" including an ingredients list & cooking directions?
  • @princ3sstofu

  • Guys, I'm so happy you are making more episodes. So fun to watch and the history you share is entertaining and accurate. Just payed attention to the map with Alexander's kingdom. Such a small detail, but you nailed it. Great job :)
  • @carolatwell4706
Great episode! I would love to see an episode where you make an old recipe for nougat/torrone the soft sweet, generally made of egg white, honey and nuts, among other things, and where you cook it in one pot.
  • @munchkin0.o
