Atlanta has lost an NHL team TWICE. Why would should they even be considered for another team?
-
The arena was originally planned to be built for AHL Manitoba Moose

Every Jets game I watch I notice the whole place is packed AF... then you see games in Carolina, Arizona, Columbus and all I see are empty seats. The Jets are in 1st place, they're not going to get moved.

First off, I’m way too likely to end up arguing with myself here. On the one hand, the creator of this channel is ridiculously quick to call every arena outmoded the moment someone has a trendy idea. Seriously, that concept needs to wash away with the next rainfall. That arena hosts a community on game nights. That makes it different from most arenas. That’s not the problem. Winnipeg is getting priced out of the NHL. I can argue that the NHL shouldn’t let that happen, that people throughout the sports industry need fresh lessons on how not to kill golden geese, but this appears to fall on very deaf ears.

Winnipeg sold out every home game from 2011 to 2020 (until covid happened) It set a new NHL record for consecutive sell outs... 41 games a year for 10 years straight Accorsing to Forbes Business of Hockey the following teams lose the most money for the NHL: - Arizona Coyotes - Florida Panthers - Anaheim Ducks - Carolina Hurricanes Despite only having 840,000 people, Winnipeg still generates more REVENUE for the NHL than, Miami, Phoenix, Raleigh or Anaheim. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. #BringbacktheNordiques

"Winnipeg is last in attendance." No, Arizona Coyotes play in a 4,400 capacity arena. Give your head a shake.
-
Arenas aren't being filled because ticket prices are probably ridiculous. On top of that everything is overpriced if you want drinks and snacks. Probably why people don't go to the movies as much these days. NHL doesn't care about Canada. Doesn't mean they wouldn't put a new team in Canada. They care more about making eastern and western conference being balanced.
-
New areas don't fix attendance problems unless it is a real dump. Bells and whistles are not always the answer. If you can't get a 15,000 seat arena filled up, then you just have more empty seats in a 20,000 seat arena.

Okay....Buffalo and San Jose have 83% and 80% full capacity....wanna move their teams too?
-
I live here. I've had season tickets since May 2011 - there is no problem. The team is not moving. The owner Loves the city and has tons of concert revenue as he owns the building, he has tons of real estate property holdings in the downtown that bring in money. They have invested as much reno money into the rink as they paid to build it. AND his biz partner who is minority owner - David Thompson - is the richest man in Canada and the 21st RICHEST MAN ON EARTH. The team is not moving. The media just makes it a bigger thing since the team moved in 1996. Covid has made even the Toronto Maple Leafs not sell of for Christ sakes.

Winnipeg isn't selling out because of the Canadian economy. People can't afford to go to games.
-
Right now I worry more about the Moose being relocated than the Jets, giving the people of Winnipeg only one option for pro hockey.
-
It’ll bounce back. Winnipeg economy got hit hard with covid/ Trudeau. There’s no lack of passion, just money. It’s short term. They were sold out for many years.
-
The 5000 seat Mullet Rink hosts the NHL Arizona Coyotes. What the hell? Does Gary Bettman know about this Nonsense? He must not.🤔
-
Losing in overtime is not a predicter of playoff success. Once they stop giving a point for losing in overtime, I'll start watching again.
-
The jets look like a true cup contender right now. They have so much depth in their line up, starting goalie is fantastic, Win the Stanley cup and you will never hear of this attendance issue again. Go Jets!
-
pretty sure this was a minor league arena for the Manitoba Moose that already existed before the Jets moved in
-
Hopefully this doesn't happen, I would hate seeing Winnipeg lose another team. (but knowing Gary Bettman, he'll probably approve the move anyways cuz that's just how he is when it comes to Canadian teams.)
-
32 pro teams should be the limit for pro sports leagues
-
I agree with you on Winnipeg is not relocating but 13,000 average in a 15,000 seat arena is an issue. This just sounds like Bettman trying to keep Arizona where they are
