Itzy proves that being a performance focused group doesn’t mean that you completely ignore having good live vocals
  • I like how despite criticizing ITZY, you can still praise them for any good qualities. This objectivity is rare in kpop 💕💜

What make Nmixx special is what we see in the studio is what we will get in the live. High notes, adlibs, Harmonies and everything. The performance is also exactly the same as their stage practice. They are one of (if not) the most REAL group in current Kpop.
  • "Nmixx's competence exceeds their own discography" 🔥🔥🔥 Edit: why are people using this quote to shade groups?? I just loved this sentence because is true for Nmixx, but I don't think this should be used to shade any group. STOP WITH THIS TOXIC BEHAVIOUR! Don't use Nmixx to put down other groups, and don't attack Nmixx because is not their fault.

yup, aespa didn't get to sing live on their many previous performances before. but, when they did...🥂👽👽👽👽

Aespa Giselle is so underrated. Despite many people considered her vocally “weaker” than the other three members, she consistently carrying their tone beautifully - especially the vocal layers and adlibs. She has demonstrated those on the recording sessions and back vocals videos. People often forgot she was a choir singer and her voice was used as the backing vocal in Black Mamba’s bridge! 🤩 (yes, that heavenly siren voice is hers). I found her sweet alto voice can balance WinNigRin’s high pitch. That’s why people thought she’s weaker but I think she just has her own league ☺️💖 I love how she never try to sing out of her range that some kpop idols did. Staying in lower register beautifully compliment her team members ❤
  • Groups that could be added in a part two: - Mamamoo - Shinee - Highlight - Brown Eyed Girls Edit to add EXO, TVXQ and The Grace

It would've been better if you used aespas encore stages and University festival performances.Their live singing skill is truly on the next level.
  • @zb1kiof
Kiss of Life too! those girls love singing live. Belle is so good
  • @anamrake
Nmixx really gives you hope that late-gen groups do have singing talents. They sing so well you'd think they are an SM group. Their practice video with live singing is really impressive.

I don't get why Lia gets the most bashed for her vocals in ITZY Like yes , Itzy as a whole are vocally weak but Lia is still the most developed so she should be the last one in Itzy to be get bashed for her vocals coz the other 4 members are weaker than her

Why didn't use Aespa latest performance at university as a source? Five songs, all live despite Winter being sick, they're crazy skilled, and the fact their songs has so much high note
  • Aespa also sing live in their university same video you used in nmixx not only encore or behind recording
  • @jadepinnock
Aespa has my favorite vocal colors of any kpop group! All of their voices are so pleasing to me and they compliment one another so well 💜
  • I spend at least 50% of my ITZY listening time wishing JYP would have picked a lower key. I worry badly about how forcing upper belts might damage their vocal chords in the long term. "Cheshire" is literally painful to sing along with and I usually just transpose it down an octave.

Bro I love Bae's voice so much QuQ brings something nice to Nmixx
  • @kidrissa
Leaving out Mamamoo makes sense. I don't think anyone who's into vocals has questions about their "vocal competence". I enjoyed the way you profiled the groups here. I've always liked ITZY's vocals, while knowing they weren't Mamamoo/SPICA/Big Mama level (3 of my favorite groups). But now I can explain WHY I like their vocals: they're solid enough for their songs and concepts, and when we see/hear them live, they're ALSO comfortable singing and showing their voices.

I think we can put the issue of a group's vocal level of performance in four stages: 1. Bad Vocal Level - One who is unable to perform adequately. Very oscillating and, in most cases, will use playback and pre-recorded vocals. More than 90% of current groups are unfortunately at this level. 2. Competent Vocal Level - One who will do what is expected of a performance, having the freedom to highlight other characteristics without the vocals really getting in the way. The classic: raw vocals. In some cases they may surprise you. itzy can be at this level, as can IVE in some cases; stayc and, perhaps, gidle 3. Good Vocal Level - One that has the ability to replicate the studio version. A more "safe" vocal. It hardly disappoints what it delivers, besides the vocal itself attracts attention a little more than other possible aspects. The chance of surprises here is much greater and a little more frequente. I think currently kiss of life could be at that level, aespa (despite playback's problems), maybe baemon, and a few others. 4. Great Vocal Level - One that, for some reason, manages to improve the studio version. They are more courageous and have the vocals as the dominant aspect and what will attract the most attention regardless of other qualities that the group may have. In addition to having songs in which only they perform at the level of the original, that is, songs in which the cover will never be better. I think the 2nd generation was the one with the most groups at this level. There were some from the 3rd generation too and, currently, NMIXX is the only one with these characteristics. It's a group that since their debut has gone viral more for their performances and "acappella" than their music itself.
