It's almost small enough to stick on your keychain as an emergency backup phone.

This is a lot better than the YouTube Short version. Thank you for linking to it.
  • Imagine going to prison in 2008, tiny old smartphones, some of the first. This is the normal phone for you. Then you see the size of phones today. Panic ensues.
  • It runs java, almost all dumb phones use it. You can install some games tho, i think it uses .jar file format.

The 90s say hello again. When it was en vogue to have a very small phone 😅

It’s not a smartphone but what we used to call a multimedia phone during 2005-08 era.

prison phone with loud start up chime? what a wonderful idea! 😀

Some old smartwatches runs a kind of similar system. Also, they can make phonecalls, text and take photos. So, if you think, those models can be considered some type of "world smallest phone" with a wristband. I have a model called DZ09 that i used as my personal phone when mine got broken.

The weird way you have to type in that small phone is the same way you had to type in the old phones that only had a numpad

Sony Ericsson made a much smaller phone than that that also ran android so definitely keep and eye out for that gem

Kudos to the company claiming on the pamphlet that they dont update the phone. Most companies nowadays will claim to update their phones but never do anyways (at least on androids, i know apple is pretty good at updating older models)

This is actually amazing to me. Imagine making something high quality like this for emergencys with high range cell service.

This is the perfect size for a phone if you need it for emergencies while going on a jog or cycling (especially on long routes like racing bikes). Especially if you don't have, don't want or can't afford a smart watch that works with an (e-)SIM card. :D

I’m less interested in the phone size and more blown away by that camera I had to squint to even see on the back 🤣
  • I like how they make the screen look better by using that large sticker.

I saw your Shorts video and clicked here hoping that this was a smartphone. The bootup screen showed otherwise. This type of phone was popular back in my university days, but it's not something I'm looking for. You did ask what kind of person wants this? I'm an ultra marathon runner and carrying my bulky smarthphone with me on long training runs can be uncomfortable. After 2 hours it feels like a brick. On the 3rd hour I'd rather not have it with me. I do need something for emergency purposes, that allow me to contact someone. The smartphone part is necessary if I'm hurt, injured or extremely fatigued while on my run and need to hail an Uber to take me home. The lack of smartphone features would be great when going out camping or on hikes. It eliminates the temptation to keep checking on social media and you live in the moment, while still having the ability to contact someone if you're in an emergency. This tiny phone would also be great for very young children who the parent feels are not ready for social media apps. The parents can still chat to the kids through good old fashioned phone calls.

this gives me the standard 2008 Nokia phones back in the day

I wonder if, especially with having to press back and individually select each image, if it's based on the mini top screen of an old button flip phone, where the big new feature was that the back screen had very basic touch functions when the phone was closed, so you could answer a call or turn off an alarm
  • @StacyAngy
back in 2009 I had i watch-phone that could literally call, had pretty good and loud sound, game etc. Such a good memory
