Youtube Music workers get fired while asking Austin City Council for Google negotiation resolution

Published 2024-03-01
As workers urged City Council to pass a resolution asking Google to negotiate with Youtube Music employees, they were told their contract was over.

The move came after the group was hopeful that Austin City Council might be able to help urge their tech giant employers to come to the bargaining table and negotiate. But a year of tension that included a strike, a unionization vote, a return-to-office and National Labor Relations Board disputes, all came to a head when tech staffing agency Cognizant held a meeting in their Austin office informing dozens of workers that their employment contract had ended.

"I'm sorry, your time has expired"... That could not have been timed better if they tried....

Wow. $19 bucks...fast food workers are making that now.

Yo $19 an hour. The new hire no degree laborer on a construction site makes more. That’s horrible
  • At least we know they will land on their feet in this roaring economy they keep telling us about.

I propose a rule that you get an extra ten seconds to process the news in case you get laid off in the middle of your speech.

Why are American labor laws stuck in-between the early 1900s?

I feel so bad for them, this is such a dirty move for Google. Disappointing🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
  • Wow okay so looks like they just committed retaliation while they're in the midst of a city council meeting. Basically it was like a big middle finger to the city council to the employees and to labor laws. As well as the court. You see just because they fired those people doesn't mean that the lawsuit stops.
  • You tube is taking off all the videos doing a story on this .Lyor Cohen os no where to be found . I bet it was his idea to end the contract and fire them .

Are you on the side of the common man or on the side of Youtube? This comment section: I love Youtube! Go Youtube! Later: My video got a strike notice! Who do I talk to? A bot? A guy in India?

A lot of times I wish the entire country was united and selfless enough to go on strike.

Ok, which city council employee came in hot with the little "ding?" The comedic timing...

America: We the people...who are rich...dictate to you...the commoners. The soulless elitism is appalling.
  • Too much centralized economic power in this country. They don't want anyone the people who do the work to have any power over their own lives. It's not like people want yachts.
