Eloy spent more than 10 years playing for Sepultura just to be called a ''youtuber drummer'' LUL

There is another thing: Eloy is one of the most humble musicians out there. Taking out his ego helps him to get better and work freaking hard. Here in São Paulo he had (or has) a room in a music school and everybody said that when he was not touring, he was there practicing all day long. He started playing the drums at 7 yo and he is 33. So it has been 26 years of hard work. It is much more than the so called 10.000 hours

His athleticism is through the roof. I think that's underrated in evaluating his playing.

Eloy is a prodigy. He started at 7 and studied Brazilian rhythms until he was 13. Only after that did he discover metal, with Black Sabbath. At 15, after appearing on a TV show, he was invited to join André Matos's band (former vocalist of Angra). In other words, while most people were playing video games, he was already on a world tour. He joined Sepultura at 20. He started working out at the gym to have the physical stamina to play with such force for so long. On his channel, there are videos showing his routine. Basically, the only thing he does besides playing drums is going to the gym to work out. He was born for this and works like crazy to get better every day. And since he's a humble and egoless guy, any band knows that calling him would be a great deal. So, besides the technique, he is what he is for two reasons: physical strength and good temperament. He is an inspiration, but a level that's practically impossible to reach. It's a lot of talent, a biotype built for this, and a good personality.

Eloy's brutality playing the drums is like Hulk climbing on the buildings.

It's a great list as always! I do think something that sets Eloy's SOUND apart is his integration of his native Brazilian rhythms into his drumming and chops. Great video as always

You forgot to mention that Eloy started playing on the biggest TV show in Brazil "Programa do Faustão", he knows how to handle pressure

He also has great feel. Latin rythm at his core.

Why did you ignore Eloy’s 12 years in SEPULTURA? Ignoring the band as if it was NOTHING!!! He had been playing with them nonstop until being called to Slipknot. Makes no sense to do that

What makes Eloy such a great “metal-drummer” is that he’s not only a “metal-drummer”. To me he has always been a hard-hitting fusion drummer. And all his flow and musical creativity I see as a result of that ✌🏻🤩

I like drums! 62 and just starting out after a lifetime of wishing. Got my beginner set for Valentine's day this year, and already wanting to start upgrading! Watching these guys is jaw dropping!!
