Space Engineers is a voxel-based sandbox game set in space and on planets, developed and published by Czech independent developer Keen Software House. In 2013, the initial developmental release of the game joined the Steam early access program. During the following years of active development, Space Engineers sold over one million units. In total as of 2019 the game has sold over 3.5 million copies In May 2015, for approximately a year and a half, the game's source code was officially available and maintained by KSH to assist the modding community. On December 15, 2016, the game entered Beta and was later officially released on February 28, 2019.
The game is a sandbox game about engineering, construction, exploration and survival in space and on planets. Players build space ships, space stations, planetary outposts of various sizes and uses, pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive.

  • This could be useful for salvaging the Unknown Signal varieties that try to run from you. Catch them in the Klang beam to freeze them while you grind them down.

    I imagine if you have multiple projectors of these panels, and have them rotate off axis, you can have a much tighter shielding
  • "I have an hologram field that stops any incoming bullets!" Railgun: I missed where that is my problem
  • An idea for the fact that it completely stops movement is a parking clamp inside hangers
  • Since it doesn't take damage, and has small grid collision, I'd say it'd work against small ships as a penetrator for a missile.
  • "Turn on the Shields!!!" Lots of T-Posing Holograms appear out of nowhere "Yes!!!"

    While watching, looks like ships don't take damage so the idea came to me: "This would be perfect as a ship catcher for highspeed landing." Assuming this would be patched at a later update, I hesitate in making one for my base as a permanent solution to our occasional crashes in our base since our members love minimalistic designs when taking thrusters into account.
  • I had a ship that I deemed "The Devourer" which was a large grid giant ship that had a door that opened a tunnel of grinders. I feel like if I had a projector beam turret, it would make getting them into this tunnel significantly easier, and then all the materials are just there for the taking. Great video btw, very inspiring and gave me tons of ideas!

    This is a bug that could become a feature! Tractor beams? Force fields that you can shape? This is sci-fi as heck!! The best part is that it's kinda balanced, you only can use it on small grids, it can protect you, but it's not 100% effective, the only thing that could be broken and should be "nerfed" is it's tractor beam, as there's no chance for the small grid to escape
  • How about an internal defence on large ships? 1. Project them throughout your ship to impead movment. 2. Use sensors to turn the projector(s) OFF when they see the player so he has free movment.
  • What I am seeing here is a very prime defense against hydromen. Just stick a set like this in your ship, and have the projector which makes the shields (2-3 layers of full boxed target dummies) on a modded elite sensor or on a switch. The hydroman comes within range, toggle shield, and suddenly they're your pet engineer.

    What about placing a "net" on that ai turret, so your custom barrier always looks directly at the enemy ship
  • It's clearly a station grid defense for your vast batteries of railgun turrets.
  • I guess you could make a set of basic shield generators with this. One "shield" panel for each side or critical areas.
  • No idea if someone else has said it, but it also works when ITS INVISIBLE! Just turn on "only show buildable". For some reason the collision is still there!
  • Imagine strapping a projector to a battery and just let it float in the space, creating a force field mine field
  • Imagine puting the shield on a custom turret of your main base so that if an enemy ship come close to your base they can’t shoot through it

    When you're testing the artillery against the clang shield, you can still see the explosion go off in the distance at 7:33. It could just be a visual effect, or it could actually mean the shell went through the shield.
