Chimpanzee Charlie trafficked to zoo as a baby

Published 2016-04-27
This baby chimpanzee, Charlie, was trafficked from Africa to Lebanon in 2005. His family would have been killed in the forest to so Charlie could be taken. He ended up at Animal City Zoo until 2014, this is Charlie alone at the zoo in early 2006. Animals Lebanon fought for his freedom and he was finally freed and sent to a sanctuary in Brazil. His legal case resulted in landmark court rulings that recognized that animals have both physical and mental welfare, that animals should be protected for the good of nature, and that the intrinsic rights of animals come before the claims of owners. If the thing is going to act like an A-hole, I'd sell it to a research lab.
