Surprised at the amount of people saying the official Nintendo dock works "fine." Of course it does! It came for free with the console! But $90 for another one? That's garbage.

"Just wait for the nyko dock to come out" How innocent and naive we were.
  • @syrupcone5715
"we just have to wait for the nyko dock" Oh just wait
  • @SpawnWave
Making the dock using a proprietary display port set up was no doubt a business move on their part to try to make their dock the only one out there. Also the C-Force 001 works fine as is with the Switch, there are several blogs that tested it in China. The C-Force 002 is set to go on sale soon for just under 50 dollars, might be worth a look.

fuck the expensive dock, lets bring magnifying glasses back

My dock works fine, no issues at all. However I think $90 for the dock is bullshit from Nintendo. There's nothing that enhances visuals in the dock... The 720p screen on the switch just uses USB-C to output 1080p and that's not expensive to make. I can understand the ARM architecture and the joycon tech, but the dock should not be that much money.

Warnings are red My screen is blue I just deleted System 32
  • just buy a nintendo switch console traveling case which is like 40 dollars so you can take everthing where ever i mean i get the want of a portable dock, but a smaller dock doesnt make wires smaller, so just buy a case
  • @EbolaGW
Nah, I'll just get the official dock.
  • @HoshPak
Locking down standardized interfaces with proprietary nonsense. That's quite a Nintendo-move to do... and extremely stupid if you consider that USB-C has been designed to eliminate confusion among customers and cable tangle.
  • @nkdibai
So it seems you haven't seen the news on these docks. Switch-Con is the propietary of C-Force (the chinese dock), as you can clearly see on their kickstarter project. The only one that is copying C-Force is SFANS ;)

I would much rather pay $90 for an official dock, than get some weird bootleg version for $20 less.

This guy should be a voice actor because I love this dudes unique voice.

I'm one of the few that like the original dock. I disagree that you think it's huge and garbage. It's far from perfect but I think the Switch looks better docked in the original over other third party ones. The original makes the switch experience just like it was advertised. However, $90 for a new dock is a bunch of baloney but it includes an official wall charger. It's great we are getting third party docks to have variety and have an extra for travels.
  • @PinkKips
shit man, the dock comes with the console so I dont really care. Also, its fine to put your Switch on it's back. It can still breathe through the gaps and other vent

You asked an interesting question in your video. "Can they even call it a USB3 port if the device doesn't support USB3?" The short answer is yes. The long answer is that the port will automatically slow down to USB2 if a device that is plugged into it doesn't support USB3, but it is still capable of delivering USB3 speed provided that a USB3 capable device is plugged into it. If you plug a USB2 flash drive into a USB3 port on your PC it will still work, albeit at USB2 speed. The same is true with WIFI standards. Just because you bought an 802.11AC router does not mean you will get that speed if your computer or phone is only capable of going up to 802.11N speeds.
  • The dock did feel shockingly cheap when I took that baby out of the box. It's tiny, though. Fits on the sill above my fireplace just fine. I appreciate that.
