In order to gain karskin’s approval you need to pick something that 1.) isn’t overly popular or too highly thought of 2.) isn’t assigned in film school (did he mention he went to film school) 3.) conversely, if Karst hasn’t heard of it that’s gonna lose you some points 4.) if your movies don’t relate to eachother, they’re “all over the place” 5.) if your movies relate too much of eachother, you’re “stuck” in the genre or decade they share

Love how right after Scorsese got on Letterboxd, Karsten deleted his old Mean Streets review 💀
  • @griffo7893
Unfortunate how no celebrities are brave enough to put hoodwinked in their top 4
  • @pillbugm8914
I mean you gotta acknowledge the fact that people interpret the top 4 favorites thing differently. Some people see it as 4 movies they can never get bored of, or 4 life-changing movies.
  • @ericliu2250
Bro’s logic be like: a person loves a universally loved movie = they don’t care about movies

Marty passing up Karsten on Letterboxd in one day was symbolic. The cream always rises to the top and real cinema will always win.

Cinephiles will always look down on people with mainstream or “basic” taste. I’m steeped in classical music and see the same thing there: if your favorite piece is the Moonlight sonata or Clair De Lune or Rach’s 2nd Concerto, your opinion is considered invalid, even though those are all incredibly beautiful and reasonable to favor. The mature attitude is to ignore popularity completely and give everything a chance.

tf is wrong with liking films that "are freshmen year film school" ??? damn pretentious film students are annoying af

Serpico makes total sense in Keanu’s top 4. It’s super 70s film bro, lived in young men’s head rent free for decades. It’s only lost that reputation recently
  • @ekuhn44
Suffered through your smarminess because I was curious about all of their picks
  • @carlwagner2049
People are allowed to have popular movies in their top 4. I mean, shit, they're usually popular for a reason. Pulp Fiction is fucking amazing.
  • Bro just because the movies picked don’t relate to each other doesn’t mean they are all over the place 😭
  • This is actually a nice break. Maybe the next video could be roasting popular users.
  • @daphneblake13
Weyes Blood's top 4 really is intimidating. Girlie really said, "I love movies."
  • @goldenafro4791
its almost like celebrities don't need to compensate for their lack of success by having quirky, obscure films as their top 4 of all time.
  • @Chris-mr5we
Lmao the Weyes Blood mention was very surprising but appreciated. One of the best songwriters of our generation
  • @edsp666
"I feel like these are all movies Toni Collette could have been in, and would have been perfect in" you are actually so right
