police/fire/ems tones from a scanner's prospective. the way that this works is that a tone encode codes out to fire/police pagers and they should respond and the dispatchers must repeat in order to prevent mistakes. if the police/fire don't respond depending on what priority it is..the dispatcher must put out a second dispatch or dispatch it to another / closer district

  • How do they transmit those kind of tones? Where I am, they do have some analog for the emergency public safety, and sometimes I will hear a short tone and right after that a long tone that is a bit higher for maybe about three to 5 seconds.

    i used to work for arlington than moved into east fiskills district than joined new hackensack when i moved back

    453.900 i have that channel in my scanner an im over in west orange county , westtown . so you must have4 or 5 repeaters huh?

  • i really want a pager...im not old enough for the fire dept in my town yet because we dont have a junior members thing i have to wait another year=/
