The way Edd said "just kidding." and the fact that edd is surprised when he sees Matt corrupted makes me think that Edd was just pretending to be corrupted because he thought it was a game.

Man, the way Edd snapped out the corruption and Tom even felt glad Edd was free. Amazing. And then the way how he turned to see Matt and moved out the way. Along with his face afterwards, and seeing Tom die... man..
