—Tagline
Kingdom Hearts II is the third game in the Kingdom Hearts series, serving as a direct sequel to Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. Like the two previous games, it focuses on Roxas and his friends battling against the forces of darkness.

The theme song for the game is "Sanctuary" (Japanese version: "Passion") performed by Utada Hikaru.

Chronologically, Kingdom Hearts II is the eighth game in the timeline, after Kingdom Hearts χ, Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage-, Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, during Kingdom Hearts coded and before Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.

“This could’ve been the other way around, but it really has to be you.” - Roxas
  • That would've one CRAZY plot twist if Sora and Kairi were the nobodies all along.

“That day… if our positions were switched… would our fates be different? Would I have your life, and you, mine? Let’s settle this… Sora.” -Roxas, probably.

Wow, that moment when Sora said, "Looks like my winter break is over," and then faded into Roxas had me crying like crazy. I mean, Sora went through so much in KH 358/3 Days, so this moment just added to the pain.

You really had me. I thought they were really considering making roxas the main character and having sora go out in a depressing way like they originally did with roxas
  • @GhostManQO
It’s crazy that Roxas was going to take Soras place
  • @steelfoot98
Genuinely this could have been an incredibly interesting plotline had it happened that way.

Can you imagine how emotional the ending would be if you played the whole game as Roxas only to be joined with Sora at the very end of the game instead of the prologue?
  • It was so sad, seeing Sora finds out his life was fake, and that he’s a nobody. Those last words he said after he opens the pod, “Looks like my summer vacation… is over”. 😢 still gives me tears.

I was convinced this was real for a second because this is totally something that devs would have pulled in the PS2 era (See: MGS2, SH3, FFX-2) only to have the final release be a troll. I also really like the visuals because it helps drive home that Roxas is Sora.
  • @KBlade1
The red cloak makes Roxas look like Dizs son! Cool!
  • @kurimiaisukurimu
With how much shenanigans happen in KH, I'm surprised we haven't gotten an alternate universe where Roxas actually took Sora's place.l
  • I, actually believed that this was actual official footage, until I read the description of the video.
  • @KingdomPuns
9 days late for this upload, but you've got the spirit. Fantastic video
  • Very good work! It actually fits really well with the theories in my head when I first saw KH1s secret cinema with the whole: "Where's Sora" dialogue. Literally build up to a crescendo with Riku fighting Roxas because through the whole game, everyone is led to believe that Roxas was evil and he killed Sora, and Riku be ready to avenge his friend.
