  • Watched this live. Everyone gathered round the TV with our 4 channels and watched Ed Sullivan each week.

What is crazy is that some of Michael's signature dance moves from all of his videos were already taking shape here. Jackson was born to be a performer.
  • @Soufparkmack
The fact they’ve NEVER heard of The Jackson 5 is unbelievable
  • To me, Michael Jackson had the best voice I've ever heard for a youngster. Absolutely insane.
  • @harpergras
Janet was a toddler during this time period. Even though Michael was the most famous at this time, all of the brother's each had a large fan following.

People either forget or don't realize that the Jackson 5 came about & existed on the Motown label in an era where actual talent was required & acts were groomed for professionalism. These kids were surrounded by Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder just on there label & interacted with even more greats.

Michael was one in a million..💔 we lost him way way to soon.
  • @kenj280
Jackson 5 sold over 100 million records and are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have performed on five or six continents!

I’m always stunned when people don’t know much about the J5 - guess I’m old!
  • Ed Sullivan helped make stars out of many bands and singers. Every Sunday families would watch Ed’s show ❤
  • Their mother Katherine said in an interview with Oprah after Michael passed that when he was a little over a year old still with a bottle in his mouth, he would dance to the beat of their old rickety washing machine. That’s when she knew he was something special.
  • @harpergras
The Jackson 5 were major stars back in the day. When they were on TV or performing somewhere, it seemed like every thing stopped. No one wanted to do anything except watch them.
  • @joehouse3800
Michael Jackson was always the Star that stood out!!
  • @Craig-gk2gr
That kid definitely had it it’s amazing how good he was especially so young
  • That's crazy seeing I grew up listening to The Jackson 5, that there are people who don't know about Michael Jackson's early start with his brothers. Motown was big back then and it didn't matter if you were black or white we all loved it.
  • Saw the Jackson 5 as a kid on their dancing machine tour stop in Lake Tahoe. Still remember it nearly 50 years later. No doubt Michael was born with "IT".
  • Everyone in the country watched The Ed Sullivan Show every Sunday evening for 27 years. It was what families did in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Ed was the most powerful celebrity on TV - he could make or break your career in a heartbeat. If he called you over after your performance to stand with him for a few seconds - you knew you made it. Every famous movie star, tv star, Broadway star, nightclub star, sports star, politician, circus star, ventriloquist, puppeteer, acrobats, writers, authors, playwright, etc. made an appearance on his show. A piece of Americana history.
  • Michael Jackson was a musical prodigy who later became a musical genius.
  • @Blkmail
They were a live band. No recorded vocals or instruments this was done live. They sound just like the record. This was done when music was real! Nothing fake like it is today!😊
