Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past SNES corrupted

I got this game and no matter what I try, I can't get past this part in the game. It looks like the rain sprite is getting loaded wrong and then the spot which registers a door "portal" is broken as well. It is impossible to get past that point.

Any ideas? This is on a snes with the actual cart. Cleaned multiple times, tried different consoles too. Thanks for checking it out.
