Getting to a point where I prefer this type of entertainment over the usual

I am 81 and have been listening to shows like this all my life. In 1965 I was a soldier with the American Army serving on border patrol along the iron curtain. We loved in GP tents and Quonset huts . The winters were very cold and dark in the forest. Listening to radio late at night by a coal stove was a comfort compared to driving a Jeep up and down the Czech border all day. Hearing these shows takes me back to that time. When my shift was over I could go back to my home post in Nurnberg and Magdelena. Remembering my “Lanie” tonight and whatever became of her and my youth.😢
  • In 1975, I was being bullied in a new school . I used to listen to this show on Sunday nights , when I was afraid of Mondays, and couldn't sleep. it helped somehow. Thank you God, for CBS Radio

It makes me stupidly happy that there are still so many of us that enjoy these radio shows. Thankyou so much TLLHS for sharing your passion with us and for all the hard work you do uploading and organising these gems so we can listen to them.

Oh my God! In the 70s, I was in elem and got a little transistor radio. I snuck it into bed and discovered Mystery Theater. My flex was to obediently go to bed then put my radio under my pillow and listen to these incredible stories. This brought back memories long buried. Thanks for posting!

I'm 38, and my grandfather introduced me to these old radio shows back when I was around 10 or so. He passed away earlier this year, and I was missing him this evening. I was curious if these old shows were on YT. Sure enough! Thank you for bringing my grandpa back to me for a few moments.
  • REMEMBER LISTENING TO THIS IN THE 70’s with my family. We’d all pile in the living around the radio and listened. Thank you for posting. Luvin it!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾. 11/9/2021. Aloha from Hawaii.🌺🌼
  • Boomer here, lol... When I was little, Mom would send me to my Grandparents farm in Ireland. They didn't own a TV, they did however have a radio. For an hour a day (after chores) we gathered around the radio and listened to the news, weather and a storyteller... I was told, TV steals your imagination...
  • I’m 56. I used to take my Dad’s radio from the garage, put it under my pillow and fall asleep listening to Mystery Theatre. He never could figure out why the batteries kept going dead so fast. 😂🤣 Thank you for doing this. 🥰
  • I remember laying on the front room floor when E.G. Marshall announced that Mystery Theater was going off the air... He announced it after the very last mystery theater.... it was late at night (this came on at 11:00 pm) and I remember feeling very sad... I said to myself that this was the end of an era .... I was glad to see that these episodes were saved so that I can enjoy them again.... Doc.

Listening to these just puts me at ease. Even watching old black and white television does the same thing for me. Sometimes it's good to take a break from the visually intense stuff that's made nowadays and just relax on what used to be simple yet effective
  • @qigonglungz
43 so I missed this era but I am enjoying it... I also understand the importance of using my own senses and imagination to enjoy stories instead of always allowing my entertainment to be completely visualized for me on the big screen...
  • @aethrya
I am 36 and didn't grow up with these; I only stumbled across them quite accidentally but I love these stories. Writers had to be good to write such captivating writing to tell a good story in a short amount of time. Sam Dan has written so many amazing episodes. And the actors are great.
  • My little brother and I used to listen to these shows on our little clock radio while laying in our bunk beds..... good times... pleasant dreams? (We're now in our sixties!)
  • Makes. One use their imagination. Like reading a book. I've been unable to read for the last few months and I miss it terribly. I find these audios very soothing.😞😢🙂
  • Wonderful Stories to help me relax and use my imagination. Thank you.
  • I remember riding in the car coming back from grandma's and we would listen to it. Wow this is so cool.
  • These make me so darn happy, cooking dinner with these on, I'm in a happy little world all of my own. Thankyou friend
