Biohacking is all the rage, but if you’re not doing it correctly, you could wind up causing more harm than good. Overexercising, undereating, and eating too many superfoods can have the reverse effect as intended, causing nutrient deficiencies, weight gain, and cortisol depletion. Sometimes less is more, and by toggling our biohacking tools at the right time and with the right intensity, we can get closer to the results we want.

I’m excited to sit down with my good friend, Dave Asprey, to talk about how to upgrade our metabolism, stress response, strength, and brain health while radically reducing the amount of effort it takes to get there.

Dave Asprey is an entrepreneur, the Father of Biohacking, and the leading voice in the movement to take control of your own biology. He’s hosted over 1,000 episodes of “The Human Upgrade Podcast” (formerly Bulletproof Radio) for more than a decade. He also hosts the world’s largest and longest-running biohacking conference. Dave works with world-renowned doctors, researchers, scientists, and global mavericks to uncover the latest, most innovative methods, techniques, and products for enhancing mental and physical performance. He’s a New York Times bestselling author of multiple books, creator of Danger Coffee and Bulletproof Coffee, and owner and CEO of Upgrade Labs, Human Upgrade Centers.

I have had dentures in my mouth since age 11 due to an accident at that age. I think of it as a blessing now, no inflammation or gum disease since my gums have been closed for 60 yrs. I also follow the system of no sugar no inflammatory bad fats, lots of healthy fats, my triglycerides are normal and I have literally no health issues at the age of 71 almost 72. My younger brothers and sisters, all 5 of them, are constantly battling weight, diabetes, ulcerated legs, bone breakage, gout, whatever. as the oldest, I am able to climb trees, hang upside down in my yoga swing, and hop over fences. I don't go to the gym, I just walk my dog. My only health issues are stress from the loss of my 2 adult sons. This is actually huge, and can affect the body substantially. I am always arguing with my primary caregiver, who is too pharma happy . I did have a goiter at 12 and my thyroid has been very off since then, but I have got it under control. Heart disease runs in my family, but I just want to be healthy enough in my 70s so I can get old with very little to no issues as I age and stay independent. I don't fear the death of my body at all. As long as I HAVE a body, however, I don't want it to end up being dependent on anyone or anything. Thanks for the videos.

  • My fitness instructor told us years ago many times that fitness is not how hard you can work or push how fast yiu recover. ...short uphill intervals with pauses of slow walking or stopped till calmed down

  • I really enjoyed this. All of the sciency info, which I am not a sciency person, to the friendly banter. Listening to this made me smile almost the entire interview. Lots to process and think about. Thank you.

I'm 62 have worked out since I was in my teens and have NEVER had a weight problem. I'm also the only female in my family over 30 that doesn't have a weight problem 5'4 120. I've never counted a calorie in my life don't know how. I find the only time I pick up a few pounds is when I don't work out. I think the body is meant to be physically active, not just for muscles but for the untold benefits that being physically active gives. I'm not saying you have to spend hours at the gym but spending a few minutes a day and then sitting around the rest of the day, I don't know but I'll keep doing the things that's working for me. I have very strong bones apparently because I fall all the time, off my rollerblades, hiking, falling on my icey driveway and on and on, and haven't broken a bone yet. Btw I take zero medication, and can still out lift my 27yr old daughter and her friends.

You gave me an idea! Just put ice in a bowl of water and put on your face! Or just put cold water on your face from the tap! That's what I do.

Just tried. Ran from tiger in stairwell/ ie. sloth-walk, 20sec all out (running stairs), 2-3 min exhale focused breathing. Repeated. Tough to CONTROL SLOW EXHALATIONS when out of breath! Waited few minutes/ did 2 rounds Wim Hof breathing. Effortless & retention times up 50% over my typical. Time efficient way to get both in
  • Love this, highly informative (as always from these two) but also had me giggling so many times throughout! Just brilliant 🪄
