There will NEVER be another Andre The Giant, RIP Boss
  • The way everyone badgers him with questions and awe of his size, wish they actually asked him of his thoughts

Andre seemed like a really cool, genuine guy.
  • Andre said his favorite thing about being in the Princess Bride was not being stared at on the set. Poor guy.

Picking on his size right off the bat. Andre went through a lot of pain emotionally and physically during his life. He was known as a very kind man and should have been respected.

Andre was one of a kind. There will never be another one. I'm happy to say I grew up watching Andre. Full respect.

I have to tell this story about Andre the Giant I was told by a mutual friend of ours.  She used to handle all the travel arrangements for the wrestlers in what was then the WWF, and they were headquartered in Minneapolis.  One night, as they often did, she, Andre, Terry "Hulk" Hogan, some spouses and family members all went out to dinner one of the finer restaurants in the twin cities.   When it came time for dessert, the waiter went over the dessert menu and mentioned how good their cheesecake was.  So, Andre told the waiter "I'll have cheesecake."  The waiter promptly returned with a slice of their cheesecake.  Andre looked down at the slice with a very perplexed look on his face, then looked up at the waiter in the same way.  Noticing this, the waiter asked if anything was wrong.  Andre looked to him holding his giant hands together forming a wedge and said "no, not cheesecake."  Then he spread his hand outward making a huge circle shape and said "cheesecake!"  He wanted the entire cheesecake...not a puny little slice. The waiter brought him the entire cheesecake, which he proceeded to consume in its entirety.  When finished, he looked at everyone around the table and said in his deep voice "that was a good after dinner snack."  He then ordered another one to go. That's my only Andre the Giant story.

So Andre would take walks in the woods on days off? That probably accounts for two or three Bigfoot sightings.

He wasn't just humble in public, he was this kind and gentle backstage too. Everyone respected him and still do to this day. He taught you you can be a giant without being angry, and knew that despite his condition he could bring people happiness, whether as a bad guy or good.
  • There is more to this man than just his size. Andre is a giant in character. Rest in Peace Andre.

It will be a long time we would get a GIANT like Andre. A genuine nice guy and down to earth. I mean Big Show is cool. Andre was Iconic. We might never get another Andre.
  • He was one of the nicest people I've ever met. RIP my friend. We do miss you and think of you often. Thanks for all the laughs.

Andre was human. He was kind, gentle, fun, and sometimes happy. I wish he had more happiness in his life. RIP to the only Giant I ever want to meet. God Bless his friends and family. We, the fans, still look to him and marvel.

Andre The Giant:arguably the greatest attraction in the history of pro-wrestling.Simply one of a kind...unforgettable.
  • I met Andre` once in the 1970's. I was working at a truckstop when a van pulls up out front. 3 wrestlers get out but the van's still squating. Then Andre` gets out!! He asked for change for the pop machine. It was like putting pebbles into his hand. Like 3 hands make his one! Didn't talk much. Pretty cool experience, tho. Randy S.

Such a shame we have to lose people like Andre. The sense of awe and wonder he brought generations of kids and just people in general. An incredible man. Watch some of his old tapes when he was actually agile..its impressive.
