This was the most thorough review I have seen for pen nibs so far. The demonstration was immensely helpful.
  • @carolmelancon
Thanks for going into more detail than just saying that they are your favorites.

As much as I enjoy seeing beautiful writing and the techniques used to achieve them, I also greatly appreciate these technical aspects that help us choose the right tools and learn from your experience. Thanks, Shinah!

I really like the Brause Steno Nib. Beautiful lines and bold lettering. Gorgeous.

This is a fantastic Video. Comparing Nibs relative to surface/paper is really critical and usually what most Video's overlook and never mention. SO helpful to consider and understand. Thank you!
  • Brilliant, thank you very much. As a new starter it’s just what I needed. Your making the effort to put the names of the nibs against the sample text was perfect for screenshots for future reference. Greetings from 🇬🇧.
  • I just received a calligraphy set with Dip Pen Set, oblique pen holder and a number of nibs. My writing looks terrible but I hope it improves with practice.
  • @ColeandOllie
So very, very helpful, thank you for also giving examples of which nib writes best on which surfaces!

Just getting started.Thank you very much.I know where to go and what to use
  • Thank you so much for your thorough explanation with using each nib!!! So very helpful!

Finding the right Nib for oneself seems almost a sacred journey or pursuit! I think I've tried everyone's "favorite" but have yet to find mine! But I'm totally DETERMINED!!
  • @lucyc
Thank you! This is an awesome explanation and demonstration of each nib. ❤

Thanks for the comparisons! I’ve got to say, I’d love to see this exact video with some iron gall or another calligraphy ink. I don’t use sumi often due to it not having great hairlines. My go to pre- made inks lately have been the Scribal Workshop iron gall and J. Herbin’s Encre Authentique. They’re both great, both iron gall. Downside of the JH is that it’s very much grey when it dries, and the downside to the Scribal ink is it smells like Worcestershire sauce… o_O

Learned alot. First timer, getting ready to buy my first set. Liked and subscribed.
  • @TF8ase
I got a bunch of nibs in a beginner pack and this was really useful. Thank you very much 😊
  • @hys4411
    Useful informations and beautiful calligraphy!
  • @juliushahn4435
Thanks! Very helpful. I use the Hunt Imperial 101, but sometimes wondered if there would be another nib that has the same width variation (emphasis on ultra thin lines) but catches the paper less...
  • @AMIR-nm7fo
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEO AND THE DEMOSTRATION ON THE NIBS, PAPER AND INKS.
  • Thank you so much for this video, I always hear about nib this or that but for us beginners it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Thanks for the demonstration before your video I had just put in an order but I think I ordered the wrong nib, I ordered a Zebra G nib instead of a Nikko G nib!

Ty I just recently started beginning using calligraphy pens and was having a lot of issues knowing which nib and how to use them or how to work them
