What are your thoughts on the NEW DAS?

Going to Disney was always a safe space for us. The DAS Pass is what made it possible for us to go. I agree, ask for proof. I will willingly provide it.

As an actual permanently Disabled person i have found for years that the Disney corporation has discriminated against disabled people for many years, i live only 11 miles from Disneyland and have been going there since before i remember and after i became disabled and electric wheelchair bound it was more important to my emotional and physical health then ever to have a place to go where it was park like with trees and hope and happiness to provide positivity for my life dealing with several life threatening illnesses, but when Disney started literally "cracking" down on disabled people i no longer felt welcome and it became a place of negativity for me to the point where i went less and less then i stopped altogether and havent gone back in years and now i have nowhere to go and spend my days laying in my bed. Now i have been paying attention to all that has been reported so far and i feel that this is almost a "war" Disney has started against the sick and injured, why, why is that? To say to the public that only people who are Autistic are to be considered "disabled" shows an outright ignorance of even the most rudimentary medicine i can only come to the conclusion that they dont want someone making a noisy "fuss" in a long line that might annoy other people in line. But now i am hearing horror stories how Disney is sometimes not even allowing Autistic people to be helped out so that they dont have to be in long lines what is that all about? There are hundreds of "hidden" illnesses that make people with them have a very hard time dealing with day to day life. I could go on for hours about people being told to "well wear diapers then" or "practice being immobile in a long line at home first so you can get used to it" etc etc but i dont need to clearly Disney Corp is blatantly Discriminating against the Disabled for their profit and feel they are too "big" for any one to do anything about it, I call on everyone who is negatively affected by all this to find out all the things they can do to put a stop to this contact local, state and federal offices that protect the ones who can protect themselves not so I or others like me can go and spend a lot of money at this corporations venues I dont want to go anywhere near these places anymore but to stop this sort of inhumane treatment of those who still have a wish or a dream that life can be hopeful no matter how ill you may be.

I won't deny that this is a blow to me but it think of DAS as a privilege not a right so I'll just deal with it.
-
This new system breaks so many ADA laws. I sincerely hope there will be a large class action lawsuit to end all of this and go back to the old DAS.

We were approved for DAS on our recent trip to Disney World (May 22-28). Our son is profoundly autistic. We did the video call with a cast member about a week before our trip. It was a very positive experience. I hate that Disney has had to tighten their eligibility rules, but I have no doubt the system was taken advantage of by many who didnât truly need it!

Itâs crazy that the state of California will give you a disable parking before Disney will give you a das pass

How are we supposed to return to our spot in line? Last fall a young woman was assaulted by a group because they thought she was cutting in line. She just had to run to the restroom. Whatâs going to happen when someone assaults a disabled person who canât defend themselves? Iâve used DAS for years. Iâm literally unable to go now because without accommodations Iâm sunk! Makes me incredibly sad! đą

They want EVERYONE to purchase the Genie + thatâs the grand scheme of things!!
-
DISNEY is losing their âguestsâ little by little. They will recognize it change it once everyone complains enough!!
-
Just saw your video . Daughter with a seizure disorder. Flat out DENIED!!
-
It is hard to put a DCP Cast Member who is 20 years old to have that much pressure on them to make a case by case decision because there is no clear operating policy or solution!
-
Excellent video that clearly explains how people are being treated. Thank you for exposing this terrible behavior.
-
It makes sense for Disney pockets . They want more money spent on genie+ itâs a disability tax.
-
I am quite now shocked and ashamed of Disney for doing this to so many disabled guests, I can tell you if you were guest in my house youâd be treated special now Disney has decided the word guest doesnât apply. Itâs more like paying participant. and to make you sign a waiver saying you wonât join a class action lawsuit convinces me that theyâre fully aware of what theyâre doing and donât care so youâre right shame shame. Shame on Disney.

After watching this, I feel very fortunate that my autistic son got DAS.

We've planned our honeymoon trip for this fall a year ago, BECAUSE I had learnt about DAS - we're flying in from Switzerland and wouldn't ever have booked it without DAS. I wish they'd given a grace period for already booked trips. I'm pretty concerned I won't get approved, even though I had no trouble getting approved for Universal...
-
My mom has stage 4 cancer. She was denied. Only cognitive disabilities are give the DAS pass.
-
I agree. Disney should just require a signed official doctorâs note on letterhead or on a prescription form. If they still want more, make DAS an annual perk to pay for at a reasonable price like $50 per month.

Was going to be booking for April for my family of 4. My son with autism has gotten approval for das every year and now Iâm so afraid of booking tickets and then being denied. We cannot do Disney without das. Iâm so torn. This is so unfair
