"I didn't know the business then. I was working with Timberland and Timberland is still my dude til this day. He cut me a check. I took that $2k i split it up between everybody. I didn't know points. I didn't know the business then, and I'm not upset about any of that. it's all good and is what is is."

  • Who knew Tye Tribbett contributed to some RnB hits. He may not have been paid adequately for his talent then but it’s paying off handsomely now.
  • @DaBoff858
Sounds like Timbo and Justin kinda shady
  • @mgit5182
The fact that he was paid so little speaks volumes..... Especially when you compare how much money that song made.... Shame on all who profited tremendously, and still didn't feel led to compensate Tye, regardless of what the initial deal was.... smh, but not surprised.

Talented people keep getting used up to make untalented people seem greater than what they actually are.

I dont know how to music business works.. but Timbaland (at that time) had WAY more than 2 grand.. they could have given him a songwriting credit or something..
  • @HZP_88
Dude looks like Michael Kenneth Williams/Omar from The Wire. Btw, didn't Scott Storch co-prod "Cry me a river" tho?
  • That’s the entertainment business for ya…the real stars are never known
  • @Rayne35
That gave me goosebumps hearing him play that part

Some church folks won’t separate from the world. Keep throwing pearls. Gospel artists make watered down secular music and win stellar awards.
  • @jamesblack5660
The song's first release was by actress and singer Julie London on Liberty Records in 1955. One of the most covered songs in music history.
  • @devzeppelin
Marsha’s vocals on the song’s outro being uncredited, makes this seem even more believable.
