Visiting Cordoba, Spain 🇪🇸

Published 2024-01-12
This Pueblo is very rich in history for Spain and Islam.
Cordoba was once the Mecca of the Islamic Empire which reflects in much of it’s architectural style. The Mosque-Cathedral is like no other with the combination of the two religious buildings dwelling together. When the Spanish claimed Cordoba, thankfully, they added their cathedral to the Mosque and did not tear down the grandeur of this place so that we continue to be able to see these many centuries later.

This place is so magnificent that it would be difficult to really see and appreciate all the details that went into building this so long ago. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful architectural designs of each faith and culture that we saw that day. At one point we stopped and prayed together which is something we do daily but it just seemed appropriate to do so in this particular place or should I say sanctuary.

Standing outside by the Romanesque bridge at the entrance of the city you could visualize the Roman army marching to and from Cordoba like I have seen depicted in many movies. There is a wonderful charm of this old city because it has been kept so much like it was historically. It is touristy but not so commercialized as we have seen so often in many other places. There is so much more to see and to say about this Pueblo but hopefully I have captured enough to help anyone understand it’s historic heritage to both the Islamic and Spanish cultures.
