  • @MotownCountry
they really should make that main part of tunnel of trees just one way during peak season. LOL
  • @yoranw4608
Harbor Springs is just perfect. What a lovely little town.

A long time ago a friend and I drove through this area during the peak of fall colors. Even on a drizzly day it was spectacular. It seemed every leaf was perfect!
  • We drove the Tunnel of Trees at night (no traffic/high beams). I played the Astroid Field Run from Empire Strikes Back at full volume. My wife was screaming so I went faster(NO traffic). We were all laughing at the end!

Wow how things have changed since I left. I lived up in Petoskey for many years. I graduated from Petoskey High. I moved away to Ohio in 04'. Lots of great memories up there. Thanks.
  • @kickthesky
I drove this road literally the same week you did. My wife and I did a circle tour around Lake Michigan and someone at a hotel back in Holland Michigan suggested we do this. Great advice. :)

The Petoskey stone is from an ancient coral reef in a shallow sea located in this area, 350 million years ago. The reef was scraped up by the various glaciers and deposited on the shoreline and interior areas of northern Michigan.

Also recommend the tunnel of trees along US 41 south of Copper Harbor MI. Then M-26 westbound is a scenic drive along Lake Superior

Chris, you are an artist and this Tunnel of Tree post proves it. You always tell a story, whether it is the beauty of Charlevoix and Petosky or the reality of parts of Detroit. You help recreate memories of places that some of us may never have a chance to see again. I will definitely revisit this post again. Would love to see you capture a short of Indian River and the majesty of that area, too. Also of Flint, where I grew up a long time ago (save your Detroit soundtrack lol). If you need to know some hot spots to hit if you do make one of Flint, let me know. Everyone should subscribe here, so very interesting!
  • Thanks for posting I don't get out much retired miss petoskey and Charlevoix liked your videos live in Gaylord just missed tornado was 2 blocks from devastation of neighbor hood
  • @lisas946
I really appreciate your content Chris! A few Summers ago, during 4th of July weekend I stayed in a very small rental chalet with dedicated lakefront within the "Tunnel of Trees" main area. While Harbor Springs is even more crowded on weekends in Summer, there is much less traffic in the Tunnel. I guess most people prefer to see the Fall Color when they visit - but I prefer to see less traffic & more scenic, LOL. I'd do this trip again in a heartbeat.
  • @mikezylstra7514
Notice the clouds. Wall to wall for weeks on end in the fall. Typical Michigan. Detroit (as well as Cleveland & Buffalo), for example, have more cloudy days per year than Seattle or Portland OR.
  • @wilurbean
Next time you're up, we'll take you on a better colors tour through Jordan River Valley. M119 is too busy these days.
  • @MiQAeL-
i bet 10 dollar generals have sprouted up since this video has been uploaded lol
  • This looks fun on a motorcycle. I don't like how there's so much traffic + the narrow road. Still looks pretty fun tho.
  • @gr33n39
Oh wow, lots of Michigan vids now! (I hope there's a list for request vids.)
