This version is more poetical, musically good and epic than the other ones I've heard

lore of this music: Deadman's Chest is a small island in the British Virgin Islands on the Caribbean; this island has high cliffs, no clean water, no trees and its inhabited by pelicans and snakes. Local folklore tells of a history when Edward Teach (yes, Blackbeard) punished 15 man of his crew by marooning them in the island with one cutlass and one bottle of rum for each, when he returned after one moth, he was surprised to find that all the 15 man had survived (he obviously expected them to kill each another); hence the name, "Fifteen Man on the Deadman's Chest". I would put the link to the source here but i think its against youtube's TOS, unfortunately.

When I was a kid in Nigeria in the early 2000s my dad bought me a VHS of the animated Treasure Island story. I loved it and I even had him buy me the actual book! Ever since I have been a fan of the story and pirates.

this sounds more like an elite navy gone rogue rather than pirates :p this song reeks of discipline and loyalty

Not gonna lie I'd pay serious money for a Black Pearl in a bottle replica.
  • I leave you all the lyrics :D More rum More rum More rum for the pirates More rum More rum More rum for the pirates More rum, hey More rum, hey More rum for the pirates, hey More rum, hey More rum, hey More rum for the pirates, hey More rum, hey hey More rum, hey hey More rum for the pirates, hey hey More rum hey hey, More rum hey hey, More rum for the pirates , hey hey More rum More rum More rum for the pirates Fifteen men on a dead man's chest Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum Drink and the devil had done for the rest Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum More rum (x7) for the pirates Fifteen men of the whole ship's list Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum Dead and be damned and the rest gone whist! Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead Or a yawing hole in a battered head And the scuppers' glut with a rotting red And there they lay, aye, damn my eyes Looking up at paradise All souls bound just contrawise Fifteen men of 'em stiff and stark Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum Ten of the crew had the murder mark! Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum More rum (x8) Fifteen men of 'em good and true Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum Ev'ry man jack could ha' sailed with Old Pew, Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum More rum More rum More rum for the pirates More rum More rum More rum for the pirates More was seen through a sternlight screen Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum Chartings undoubt where a woman had been Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum 'Twas a flimsy shift on a bunker cot With a dirk slit sheer through the bosom spot And the lace stiff dry in a purplish blot Oh was she wench or some shudderin' maid That dared the knife and took the blade By God! she had stuff for a plucky jade Fifteen men on a dead man's chest Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum Drink and the devil had done for the rest Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum Fifteen men of 'em stiff and stark Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum Ten of the crew had the murder mark! Yo ho, ho ho and a bottle of rum

LOL, I'm reading Treasure Island for school and that's what brought me here.
  • When you turn down giving rum to pirates: “Why do I hear boss music?”
  • I really like this version. Well done guys. It really seems like something a crew would start chanting
  • @roaming740
I remember reading about this chant in the book Treasure Island, and I didn't understand what it meant, but I found it interesting. Now, I understand...
