Pawn: *Moves to last rank* Also pawn: "From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me..."
-
As a mechanical engineer, I absolutely love that you tried to make it realistic, and as crazy as it sounds, I’m tempted to attempt to design a real one. Though it would probably have to be a lot bigger than 1:1
-
The transformation itself looks just magic, and I really like the idea that you can see the difference between a queen-born and a queen that used to be a pawn. There's some symbolism in it
-
This was mind blowing to watch! The sound effects really sell the effect. Well done
-
I do love how you pointed out that you were creatively blocked and needed to take a break. Any process can feel like it stagnates if you concentrate on it for too long and the simplest things can knock an art block loose.
-
Imagine just playing chess, the enemy gets a pawn to your side and it just does this
-
The Pawn's transformation really reminds me of Iron Man 2's Mark V armor (the briefcase suit). It has similar mechanical moving parts, transforming from something small, into something bigger, and different. Great job!
-
6:18 someone should give credit for it, so I will: Yes, the crown transformation turned out as the coolest effect! It exceptionally clever what you did there I also love how aesthetically coherent the whole thing feels, despite each section has different mechanics. This takes the cake as the best random but brilliant project/idea I have seen in a while
-
The unfolded "Frame" of the transformed pawn really gives off this "Faux Queen" vibe that I really like. Like, this is not the original queen, but she's just as powerful.
-
The gold and wood combo was so cool, it even gives the vibe that the pawn is just an asset, hence the wood; but when it turns into the queen you get to see golden details that truly make it feel luxurious and royal like 🔥
-
This is a real engineering problem, not just modeling and animating. Although both model and animation are incredibly smooth and high level. awesome stuff
-
I like that you can tell it was the pawn by leaving in the gaps, though I wish it sounded more wood like instead of metal.
-
The wooden texturing combined with the mechanical animation where the object gets bigger and bigger reminds me of the Game of Thrones Intro. Absolutely beautiful and great work!
-
The amount of hours put into this work can be felt
-
This is the first video i watched. To say that my inner child was excited and giggling is an understatement. This was beyond incredible. The creativity and level of detail is just impeccable.
-
Queen had and amazing transition! I'm so proud of her!
-
Now pawn to queen isnt only Strategically devastating its emotionally devastating as you watch the pawn going terminator on you
-
this was just out of this world and the thing which made this vfx 30 times better was the noise
-
This is so fascinating! I am so blown away that your mind works like this. Insane work man, keep it up!
