Sure nanotech is hella advanced, but there’s something about the mechanical is satisfying
  • No nanomachines, no Avengers, no SHIELD to back him up. Just a man with his mind, his own tech, and an unbreakable will.

14 years later, still the best suit up moment of the entire MCU.

1:11 I remember being at absolute awe in the theater. No other movie has made me feel that emotion again.
  • It was at this exact moment that Thanos, billions of light years away, started hearing boss music and never found out why.
  • Man, I miss this. The mechanical clicking and whirling. Seeing everything snap into place like it's meant to. Imagining the smell of metal and oil. Just the whole industrial feel of Iron Man 1.

no quips. no unnecessary humor. just a badass and emotional scene.
  • This is the moment that he realizes he has the power to make a difference

Man, that small detail of the cables lighting up at 0:40 to power his arm when it was about to fire is so good. Iron Man will always be one of the best MCU movies.

If you understand mechanical engineering on any level then you will feel delighted at how to suit comes together. An example would be the leg hardware coming together by a screw type device turning and pulling the suit in through hooks that you can actually see! Same thing when the impact at 1:42 pulls the suit together. They clearly brought in real mechanical engineers to work with CGI artists for believability.

16 years later.. this 1 minute suit up sequence still gives me goosebumps.. I cannot watch it without a big grin on my face. It will forever be timeless.

I reckon this is one of the most awesome superhero origin stories that I've seen. No quest to find power, no training to become a mighty warrior. Something built from a drive to survive that turns into something far bigger.

It’s crazy how this was 12 years ago and the CGI still looks so real

The closing of the helmet is the most satisfying part of the whole movie. The ready for battle look, the symmetry shot and the eyes glowing. Just perfectly balanced as all things should be.

The acting in this scene is awesome. Tony looks like he's both present and absent at the same time. His eyes are shifting back and forth between the screen and his armor. But it's the look of anger and determination in his eyes that shows how focused he is and creates a great sense of anticipation that something epic is about to happen.
  • I saw Iron Man back in theatres in 2008. I was then 7 years old. I am now in first year university studying engineering. Shit goes a long way.

this scene was the exact moment engineers, as children, wanted to become engineers
  • Congratulations to IronMan on being inducted into the national film registry
